O/A Elections                        Dave Contag

OA adult leader elections were conducted by Dave Contag.  Results will be made available after tap out.  Election for OA scouts took place last Monday.  A few scouts did not take the voting seriously but most did.  

 

Meeting Chair           Jeff Muchow

Called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.  Introductions & Opening Comments.  Thanked Tom Baker, Rick Korvick and Denise Holt for a great job at the Riley campout.  John McCabe facilitated a $200 donation from Hallmark and was thanked by the group with a round of applause.  April 3rd and May 7th are Bartle Parent orientation nights.

 

Scoutmaster              Scott Weaver

Fort Riley was a tremendous success.  We had great interaction with the scouts; military, dogs, tanks and helicopters.  Looking ahead, action packed activities over the next couple of weeks. Scott will work with 1st year parents on Monday night to determine patrols that want to enter.

 

Advancement            Brent Reynolds

Clarence Krantz

Half of life Scouts are working on Eagle (22) .Need volunteers to serve as board members for Evan Key’s Eagle Board.  Jeff Muchow, John McCabe and Mark Parkins volunteered.

 

Eagle Court at Blue Valley Northwest on April 29th.  Thanked Tracy Thomas for his work on the Eagle Ceremony.  Paul Coffman will be the guest speaker.  Lunch will be at 12:30 for adult leaders and Eagles.

 

Treasurer                  Kevin O’Farrell

                                    AR is just under $7,000.  Bartle fees are due on Monday night.

           

Outdoor                     Tom Baker

*    OA Campout is April 27th - 28th.   We will not cook breakfast on Sunday because of the Eagle Court.  Service will be on Sunday morning because of tap out ceremony. Camp box inspections and inventory will be conducted by Chuck Gipson.  Fly fishing merit badges will be offered at the tap out.

 

Back to back with the OA campout.  Canoe campout will be held at the same place as last year.  We will offer an additional leg for the older scouts.   Greg Spies recommended we have the March and April campout closer together.

 

100 Scouts and 70 adults attended Ft. Riley.

 

John McCabe Bartle Campmaster

Big Bartle signup night starts Monday at 6pm.  130 -140 scouts anticipated to attend Bartle. 

 

Grub Master              Rick Korvick, Denise Holt

Equipment                 Chuck Gibson

Wind damage occurred on the big fly and we will need pole repair.  Tents need to be turned in if scouts holding them are not attending the OA campout.

 

Philmont Update       Jeff Muchow

61 out of 84 slots have been filled.  Chuck Gipson is checking to see if he can find an additional crew to fill the gap.  Meeting will be held after the committee meeting.  We made our FOS goals so we will get free rank advancement.

 

Merit Badge Forum  John Martin

55 new scouts are signed up with Troop 10 for 2007.  

 

Honor Camping         Greg Spies / – Mic-O-Say

Only 4 campouts required to be eligible.

Dave Contag – O/A

Looking for a canoe.  Packets will be available for OA members going for brotherhood at tomorrows meeting.

 

Adult Training           Blake Williams

Check website for leadership opportunities.  We need adult leaders to take safety afloat and swim defense for the canoe campout. 

 

Community Service  Deb Dellinger

No update

 

Deb Herrman             Volunteer

Working on the Ernie Miller project, may get it toward the end of May.  Area Sight Foundation is looking for volunteers on the OA induction weekend.

 

Round Table             Weaver

Wood badge available in May, Bob Tenny is already signed up and Col. Weaver is interested.

 

New Business:

 

*     Quinten Cockington - High adventure 7adults and 12 scouts are going June 18th.  4 nights and 5 days.  8 slots are still available.

*     Barb Cusick - Fund raising – Prizes will be offered by patrol.  We will continue to sell greenery.

*     Rick Korvice – Grubmaster discussion.  A great deal of discussion occurred but the fact remains that we have no volunteers that have stepped up to be Grubmaster.  Committee was formed and will be lead by John McCabe.

 

Jeff Muchow adjourned the meeting at 7:39 p.m.
