Terry Ellis called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

Thanked Greg Williams for a great job as Camp Scoutmaster.  All committee positions self introduced themselves to the first year adults.

 

Camp Scoutmaster        Greg Williams           

Tent damage = $30 fee.  Damage was deliberate.  Lost and found items will be listed in an email and sent out by Herb.  4 boys left on early departure and 2 were older scouts.  This will be reflected in Mic-O-Say voting next year.  They will not get credit for the camping night.  Thanked everyone that helped Travis on a successful completion of the camp.   Thanks to Greg Spies for sending a letter to the camp director.

 

High Adventure            Rob Wheeler                                                

Blackbeard was a complete success absent of the tail end hurricane. Boundary Waters was also a great time.

 


Scoutmaster Update                William Easley           

5 more Eagle candidates completed Scoutmaster conferences and 2 completed boards of review and received Eagle Coos.  Patrol flags were a success.  SPL will be voted on during the next scout meeting – August 21st.  SPL must follow the scout oath to be eligible.

 

Outdoor Activities        William Easley/Bill Haner

2005/2006 Camping Program –

Voting was conducted by the boys for camping trips top seven = 6 flags ski, paint ball, Lake of the Ozarks, Worlds of Fun,  Shooter safety was eliminated by the committee.

 

High Adventure            Bryce Wells

90 slots available for Philmont (June 29 – July 12 2006) and Bryce will present a proposal for other high adventure at the next committee meeting.

 

Camporee                      Easley/Spies/Haner

At Camp Nash September 23 – 24.  Theme is Survivoree and Troop 10 is responsible for food (bad gag food),  Trailhead District site is still not up and running with any details.  No details about camping location at Naish.  Question was raised about info about the Weblos.  It was agreed that we will cook for the Weblos and parents.

 

Treasurer Report         Chris D’Adamo

Balance checking account is at an all time high.  Deposits need to be turned in now.  Troop Ledger Accounting software will be replaced by QuickBooks.  Brent Williams explained the proposal for Credit Card payments and Quick Books.  Glen Alexander will use his connection at Citi Bank.  Going rate is %2.33. A vote was taken and Quick Books was approved.  Kevin O’Farrell will look into credit card payments on the Web.  The committee will not be apposed if it is $500 or less.

 

Fund Raising                 Alan Myers

Hen House and Price Chopper has discontinued the reward program.  The committee agreed to continue with greenery sales.  Every scout is responsible for selling $80 of greenery or write a check for $40.  Greenery sales are slated for capital expenditures.  We agreed to bill dues in January, if we can get reenrollment agreements.

Will be reported at the next meeting.

 

Advancement                Brent Reynolds

Congratulated Tom Wineland on his Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review summer camp process and recommended we use the same system for all future summer camps.

 

Eagle                              Terry Ellis for Clarence Krantz

5 new Eagle Scouts and 4 soon to follow.  Fall court will be between 12 and 15 Eagle Scouts.  Thursday August 18th need 6 dads to sit in at the round table.  Need two advocates.

 

Honor Camping O/A     Rob Wheeler 

Crossover C Team, Looking for Lodge Officers, Section Conclave is great for fellowship and is Scout run. Oct 21 – 22.  Nov 11 – 13 National Leadership Seminar, a premier junior leader training opportunity and winter banquet in January.  Final induction 16 -18 fellow ship at Nash.

 

Mic-O-Say                      Greg Spies/Blake Williams

Breakout session will be held for Scouts on 1 of the upcoming campouts.

 

New Business:

 

Committee Positions    Terry Ellis

Terry Passed out a sheet with open positions.  It was noted that Joe Alanzo has an interest in the Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review coordinator position.

 

August Troop Picnic    All

4pm Sunday August 21st until dark.  Everyone needs to bring a side dish and we need volunteer for overnight.  Rotary club will purchase the meat and Troop 10 will contribute.  We will cleanup Stu’s barn on Wednesday.  We will start cooking on the 19th. Need help setting up the tables.  Rick Korvick will coordinate volunteers for the Picnic.  Need  a volunteer to drive the troop truck, Greg Spies will coordinate with Chuck Gibson.  All committee members need to help setup tables on Saturday August 20th at 1pm.  Adults need to bring folding chairs.

 

30 year anniversary     All

The anniversary will be held at the December Court of Honor.  The troop will give recognition of former Scoutmasters and Eagles.  Coffee and Cake will follow the Court.  We will contact the local papers to drum up publicity.  Terry is looking for a volunteer to head up the committee.

 

Boards of Review         Tom Wineland

 The committee agreed to the practice of utilizing Life and Eagle Scouts for Board of Reviews.

 

Camp Pictures              Bob Key

 Will ask Herb to send out a note requesting pictures be sent on a disc to Bob Key.

 

Adult Training               Blake Williams

Trailhead District Training Schedule:

September 13 – Job Specific

September 20 and October 1 – Outdoor leader skills

 

Blake will ask the District to come in and run a class - Troop Committee Challenge.  Terry congratulated Blake on coordinating the training.

Next Round Table is for Web Masters.  Round Table is the First Thursday of every month.

 

Troop Truck trouble on way to Bartle, Chuck is working on it.

 

Blake Williams, stated the District nominating committee selection is this weekend.

 

Rusty thanked everyone for receiving flowers from the Troop and a group phone call.

 

First year Dad’s made a 4 page suggestion letter for new dad’s.

 

Terry Ellis, PLC and troop meeting on the 22nd.  No meeting on Labor Day.   We have received commitment from the BVSD for all of our requested dates and rooms at PSMS.  We have an agreement on all committee dates with Blue Hills CC, however, food service will not be available January through April.

 

Terry Ellis adjourned the meeting at 8:10 p.m.
