Welcome and introductions

 

Adult Leader Needs:

       Recruiting Chair – this will split Membership into 2 jobs – Renee Andrews to keep administrative        component of Membership, including paperwork.

       Committee Chair – after the 1st of the year after re-charter

 

District Roundtable

       Sporting KC outing Sept. 14 – Troop will support by moving September campout

       American Royal Parade – Sept 29

                   Council looking for 500 scouts to march

                   Tracy Thomas agreed to coordinate

 

Leawood Lions Update – No update

 

Scoutmaster/SPL Update

       Garrett Shropshire – No Scoutmaster update

       Calendar Update – as a result of September campout date change

                   Regular troop meeting to plan for campout @ 7PM on 9/17

                   Truck Loading moved to 9/20

                   PLC moved to 6 PM on 9/24 prior to Fall OH

       Eriq Garcia

                   Scout Leadership team in place

                   Patrol sorting to occur August 13th

 

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Scott Brown/Ken Green

       August 19 – Troop Picnic – Stu Sharp’s

                   Will share table & chair rental costs w/ Leawood Rotary

                   Signup through 8/13

                   Will need scouts to assist w/ chair set-up @ 1PM Sunday prior to picnic

       September – Fishing Campout

                   Date changed to weekend of 9/21, 22 & 23

                   Location – Pinaker’s Farm near Warrensburg

                   Webelos can join us Saturday morning 9/22

       October 19-21 – Trailhead District Camporee

                   No new information at this time

                   Will be in Louisburg

                   Probably at least 5 more with possibility of 9 more

       Scouts on the bubble

                   - Long discussion regarding troop tracking/communicating to older scouts on the bubble of not earning Eagle rank

                   - Discussion regarding needing to have meeting w/ Life Scouts & parent right after their COH elevation to ensure all are aware of timelines required for Eagle advancement.

                   - Bob Rohlf, Julia Day & Tim Yee agreed to form a committee to present recommendations to committee by November meeting

       Committee agreed to include round-trip bus fare in 2013 published Bartle costs – Rob to determine amount increase after Bartle P&L review next month

       Presented plan to define # of leadership jobs going forward

       Bob to finalize in time for JLT

 

Advancement – Julia Day - No new information not covered previously

 

Community Service – Virgil Villarreal – No report

 

Training – Scott Bower

       No longer responsible for Trailhead District Training

       Desires to focus on Merit Badge Leader Training for the Troop

 

Honor Camping Programs

       O/A – Rob Baker

                   C-Team going to charge members a nominal refundable fee with issuing of costumes to        underscore need to return in good condition

       Mic-O-Say – Greg Spies / Jim Wasko

                   A number of scouts were disappointed with lack of point elevation at Bartle

                   All start school year with a clean slate

 

High Adventure – Howard Berkowitz

       Krista Cox gave a glowing report of Boundary Waters trip

       Lisa Harrison made motion that scouts w/ known behavioral issues must have a parent attend high adventure trip w/ scout

New Business/Open Discussion

       World War I Museum

                   James Duncan agreed to coordinate

       Fund Raising

                   Committee agreed to promote greenery sales – need a coordinator for this year’s drive

       Will also allow pop corn sales – no promotion

       Chris Pfeffer – Parent notification task force – to be discussed at next month’s meeting
