




TROOP 10 Probe into Space
Kansas Cosmosphere
Program: February provides the
opportunity for Scouts of Troop 10 to visit the “Kansas Cosmosphere and Space
Center”. This facility houses one of the
most complete historical museums of the NASA Space Program, as well as
extensive displays of Rocket development and other really cool stuff.
Highlights of
the program will include:

Hall of Space Museum

Planetarium
o
IMAX Dome Theater
o
Opportunity for “Astronomy” Merit Badge
o Opportunity for “Space Exploration” Merit Badge
Arrival:
Friday,
February 20, 2004. Plan to arrive as
early as possible on Friday evening at the Salvation Army Facility at 7th
& Walnut. We will return home Saturday evening, after the Program
ends. You must sleep Friday night
and complete the entire Cosmosphere program to receive credit for this
outing.
Where: Hutchinson,
Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.
Directions: Go west on I-35 to Emporia KS. Go north
around Emporia to Hwy 50. Go west on
Hwy 50 to Newton, KS. At Newton Hwy 50
combines with I-135 south, which jogs around the east side of Newton before Hwy
50 splits off to the west towards Hutchinson (exit 30). Continue on Hwy 50 west towards Hutchinson.
Turn right on KS-61 in Hutchinson. Go
North on KS-61 to 4th Avenue.
Turn left (west) on 4th Avenue. Turn right (north) on Walnut.
Go to 7th Avenue to the Salvation Army Facility, 7th
& Walnut).

(Price includes sleeping arrangements at the Salvation Army facility,
admission to Cosmosphere Museum, Planetarium, IMAX Dome Theater, Merit Badge
Programs, Breakfast & Lunch.)

Equipment: We will be sleeping in the Salvation Army
Gymnasium. You will need your own
ground mat, sleeping bag, appropriate clothing and other personal items. No cooking equipment or other camping
equipment needed. Personal spending
money for the food court / gift shop.
Uniform: Class “A” Uniform Required at
Cosmosphere.
Meals: Plan to eat on route to Hutchinson Friday evening. Saturday Breakfast will be provided by the
Troop. No cooking by scouts this
trip. You can leave the Patrol Boxes at
home. The Cosmosphere will furnish
Saturday lunch at the Hutchinson Community College Cafeteria next door.
Commitment Date: Scouts & Adults
MUST register by Monday, February 9th for this Event. We will be sending our reservation fee in
that evening. If you don’t register,
you won’t be able to attend.
