TROOP 10

SKI CAMPOUT &

Snow Sports Merit Badge

January 13th & 14th, 2006 - Snow Creek

Program:                  We will be camping and skiing/boarding Friday night (10:00 pm – 3:00 am) at Snow Creek, Weston, MO.  The campgrounds are located adjacent to the upper parking lot of Snow Creek.  To receive attendance credit, you must be present during ski time, campout, and cook breakfast with your patrol.  A Snow Sports Merit Badge is available at the ski school for scouts who know how to ski - register on sign-up page, purchase handbook and complete pre-work prior to campout.

Arrival:                      We will have a Troop roll call at approximately 7:00 pm at the campsite.  If you arrive after that time, check in with Mr. Easley.  If you plan to arrive late, leave early or leave during the campout, you MUST contact our Scoutmaster, William Easley, before the campout or you may not get credit for the campout.   913-469-9749  scoutmaster@bsatroop10.org

Food/Cooking:       Eat supper on your own before arriving Friday night.  Patrols will cook a hot breakfast Saturday morning for themselves and attending parents.  We recommend that you bring wood and charcoal for fires. Bring your own $$$ for the Snack Bar and lockers at Snow Creek.

Equipment:              You will need cold weather clothing, extra dry clothing to change into after skiing Friday night (socks, sweats, t-shirts, stocking hats, gloves etc.), cold weather sleeping bag, ground mat, eating mess kit, and rain gear.  Appropriate ski/boarding attire is recommended on the slopes.  Field Uniform not required.  Patrols need to work together to make sure that patrol tents (poles & stakes) & tarps, stoves and cooking boxes (cleaned and properly stocked) are brought to camp by assigned patrol members.  Tents have all been assigned to patrols and are not available from the Troop equipment stores.  Please check your Tents BEFORE the campout to make sure that ALL parts are accounted for.  If you have Patrol Equipment (tents, tarps, stoves, cooking equipment), make sure it makes it to this campout even if you aren’t attending.  Call your patrol leader and Quartermaster if you have any questions.  Patrol Quartermasters must speak to the Troop Quartermaster, Chuck Gibson; quartermaster@bsatroop10.org 913-681-8881; if ANY additional equipment is needed (i.e. cooking grates, bricks, tent poles, tent pegs, tarps, tents).  Paper goods & cups will not be provided to Scouts or Adults.  Bring your Scout Handbooks.
