NOVEMBER “FEAST” CAMPOUT

November 16th & 17th 2002

 

Location:     Camp Earnst, 18302 State Line Road (Directions provided below).

 

Departure:  Meet at Prairie Star Middle School; Saturday, November 16th @ 7:30am.

We will depart PSMS promptly at 8:00am

                     (We will return home after we break camp Sunday, around 10:30am)

 

Cost:            ADULTS:        $15.00 (plus patrol costs)       (please pay Troop Treasurer)

                     SCOUTS:       $15.00 (plus patrol costs)

 

Activities:

·   Saturday:  Camp setup, Lunch break, Scoutcraft / Rank advancement, Conferences / Boards of Review, Fun / Games / Free time, Feast, Campfire (Patrols have a skit prepared)

·   Sunday:  Breakfast, Worship Service, Break Camp

 

Food/Cooking Format: 

·   Saturday lunch – Everyone bring a sack lunch.

·   Saturday FEAST (supper):

Ø            All ingredients will be purchased & supplied by the troop.

Ø            Every patrol will be responsible for cooking a menu item (side dish) for the

Feast.

Ø            Patrols will signup for this side dish at the Troop Meetings.

Ø            Adults will prepare the Main Course.

·   Sunday Breakfast – Patrols will be responsible for bringing and preparing a “hot” breakfast for the scouts and parents in their patrol.

 

Equipment Needed: You will need cold weather clothing, extra dry clothing to change into at night (socks, sweats, t-shirts, stocking hats, etc.), cold weather sleeping bag, ground mat, eating mess kit, and rain gear. Patrols need to work together to make sure that patrol tents and cooking boxes (cleaned and properly stocked) are brought to camp by assigned patrol members. Call your patrol leader, if he doesn’t call you by Thursday, November 14th.

Paper goods & cups will not be provided to Scouts

Coordinating Patrol: The coordinating patrol will be the Penguin Patrol. One of the parents of a Penguin Patrol Scout will need to drive the troop truck to and from the campout. The Penguin Patrol Scouts and ALL quartermasters are responsible to load the truck on Friday, November 15 at 6:00pm and unload the troop truck on Sunday morning.

 

Directions: Drive south on Kenneth Road from 135th, 143rd or 151st Street.  Kenneth is the first major street east of Mission Road.  Continue driving about 0.9 miles south of 151st Street where Kenneth Road turns left (east) at a T intersection.  (You will be continuing on 159th Street if you don't make this turn)  Turn left onto Kenneth Road to the East and follow the road as it curves back to the South and follow it until you reach 175th Street.  This will be a T intersection with an old cemetery in the Northwest corner.  Turn left and drive east about 0.2 miles to the intersection of State Line Road.  Turn right and drive south on State Line 1.0 mile to a drive on the right (west) at 18302 State Line Road.  Turn right and drive about 0.2 miles to a house where the drive turns to the right (north). Slowly proceed up the drive to the north until you reach the parking area.
