Troop 10 Committee Meeting

February 6, 2005

Members Present

 

John Ahart, Doug Ball, Chris D’Adamo, William Easley, Marc Elkins, Terry Ellis, Chuck Gibson, Bill Haner, Rick Korvick, Bob Lehleitner, Larry Lehman, Brent Reynolds, Joe Vogliardo, Jim Wasko & Rob Wheeler

 


 

Terry Ellis called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

 

 

 

Terry Ellis – recognized William Easley for doing an outstanding job as our new scoutmaster

 

Rob Wheeler – 2 crossover ceremonies set – Mission Trail (2/23) at Ironwoods and Barstow (3/2) – we will have our ceremony teams there

 

Rob Wheeler – OA elections 4/11 – eligibility list will be at the table at Troop meetings

Spring Induction Weekend – to be at Bartle – Brotherhood Induction as

                                    Well     Jonathan of HOAC is trying to do an intercity push to get scouts involved In OA and MicOSay

 

We will meet at 5 PM for OA elections for adults on 4/10 – only OA adult members – prior to that committee meeting

 

Terry Ellis – 2 scouts to have Eagle Boards this month; some adult leaders will be needed to sit in; one more scout will have his Eagle Board this month this would mean there will be 5-6 scouts for April ECOH

 

Marc Elkins – Troop 10 has 11.5 % of scouts who have become Eagles per stats from John Heather

 

Joe Vogliardo - Eagle Court of Honor on 4/17

 

Chris D’Adamo – Treasurer Report – may have to write off over $1000 from past due           scout accounts  - recognized Greg Williams, Gary Dennis, Chuck Gibson, and Jeff Mallin for shelves in the new van

 

John Ahart – to start knots course at next meeting

 

Terry Ellis – Hen House report per Alan Myers: we got $125 check since we now have the minimum 25 families – still have to meet minimum for Price Chopper

 

Chris D’Adamo – recognized Alan Myers for how well greenery sales went

 

Bill Haner – next campout – Wilderness Campout at Bartle – we will pitch tents – we will have stations the scouts will work thru – lashings, fire building, survival kits, camp gadgets, top map reading, shelters, etc, - there will be dutch oven cooking after demonstrations of how to do it – adult volunteers are needed to oversee each station  - 1 night

 

Bill Haner – 2 campouts in April – Rocheport bike riding on 4/2-3 – Katfish Katie’s campground in Huntsdale – it will be along the river and thru tunnels – adult volunteers at stations along the trail are needed;

                                    Tapout at Illig’s Farm on 4/22-23

May – canoe campout – we have to choose which river

 

Terry Ellis – complimented Bill on preplanning of camping events

 

Bartle 2005 – remainder of $ due needs to be paid

 

Roundtable – we were asked if we would host an intercity troop at summer camp- we will

explore logistics to see if we can handle the details

 

High Adventure – there are 2 slots open for Blackbeards and even more open for

Boundary Waters trip

 

Marc Elkins – Philmont 2006 – we sent in $ for 96 slots, including 32 adults – he will begin making phone calls to get interest in scouts and parents - $650 is approximate cost- plan to go by Amtrak

 

Chuck Gibson – new truck is great – trying to look into new storage facility – trying to sell old truck – we have some interest – working on getting a logo decal for the new truck – he will be the insurance contact for the truck and its contents – we have a list of drivers for insurance purposes

 

William Easley – went to crossover at OTMS tonight – 7-10 scouts will come to our troop

had Webelos Night – went well – had a Philmont and Star Wars

presentation - gave appreciation to Mike Coffee for being at last 3 meetings to help with new scouts - last campout went well – some patrols did not bring food - PLC elections went well – we have a new SPL and he is putting together a team of ASPLs

Conducted troop election per Roberts Rules and that helped a few scouts were asked to step outside the meeting to get themselves together – he would like the adults to be more active in dealing with negative behaviors some tents had broken poles at meetings adult announcements will be all at one time at the beginning

 

Rick Korvick – working on menus for Feb campout – he will get a Sam’s Club membership for the troop

 

Terry Ellis – we will have 35-40 new scouts

Adult Training is 2/26 – Super Saturday Safety classes at 95th and Antioch

Suggested we get involved in Troop Committee training on 3/8 at Church of the Resurrection    -   Scoutmaster and ASM Training in September – will have campout too

 

Marc Elkins – Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense are available online

 

Brent Reynolds – Recharter update – to be completed at first part of March – also is doing Quality Unit application

 

Terry Ellis – the District is asking us for a total of service hours we do – Marc McCarty will coordinate this – Do a Good Turn For America Project

 

William Easley – thanked Bill Haner for taking Webelos at the last meeting

thanked John Ahart for helping at campouts

 

Joe Vogliardo – suggested that new Eagle Scouts go to a Rotary Club breakfast prior to the ECOH

 

Larry Lehman – suggested that we ask parents of new Eagles to offer a gift to the troop

                                           -asked that anyone taking pictures at troop meetings, campouts, events get those pics to him for use in presentations we do

 

Terry – discussed Wood Badge Training for adults – on HOAC website – 2 weekends in the fall   - some key committee positions need to be filled – Kevin O’Farrell will become the new treasurer  -  will look into a committee position to make sure we are giving recognition for various things

 

                       

The meeting was ended at 8:00 p.m.
