Scoutmaster/SPL Update – Garrett Shropshire/Eriq Garcia/Michael Navickas

            Eric Garcia thanked the committee for all of their support over the past 6 months – committee gave Eriq a round of applause.  Michael Navickas took over and reported that his team was still putting together plans for the next 6 months.

           

 

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Chris Blackwood/Ken Green

            February – Fire & Ice – Mr. Spies’ Farm

                        1 night campout

                        Klondike Derby event – need 12 adult volunteers

                                    Need all boys to bring can of soup for Klondike Derby.

                                    Need 2 pairs of snowshoes

                        Menu to be determined

            March – Katy Trail – Katy Trail (reserved already)

            April – A/O – Service day the weekend prior.  On calendar?

            May – Same campsite as last year.  Canoe in other direction from last year.

            June – Mustang

 

 

Bartle - Ted Fuehr

            1st meeting at ski campout; assigned some duties

                        Ken sent out pictures from a trip to Bartle last weekend. Command Cabin had been removed.  Bartle staff said no more cabins will be removed.

            Much will have to be determined when we get there.

           

 

Quartermaster Update – Chuck Gibson/ Jeromey Rutledge

            New tents are in the troop locker.

            Adopt-A-Tent – Tent Sub-committee

                        Details of proposal circulated at the committee meeting.

                        Discussed particulars of the proposal.

                        Vote taken:  passed – 23 (Yes) vs. 3 (No)

            Need a primer on tent care for new scouts and new parents.

 

 

Membership – Craig Antonic/Becki Clary

            Webelo Crossovers – 25-30 new Webelos, could be higher.

            Recruiting is down across the district.  Adult leadership at Cub Scout level is a big problem.

                        Down in some districts in council, up in some districts in council.

            Need to engage the packs earlier in the process than in the past.

            March 3rd – WWI Memorial Event to recruit new Webelos

                        T10 sponsors 1st year Webelos @ $6 each.

                        Offer it to our scouts – pay their own way (activity credit).

                                    Our scouts invite cub scouts (1st class requirement) – bring a friend and you’re free.

                                    Class A required

 

 

Life to Eagle – Lane Christenson

            9 in this Eagle Court plus 2 to be added

            51 Life Scouts; 5 with completed projects; 9 approved at District; 15 more likely to get setup be

            A few 17 year olds with work to do to get in position for Eagle.  (Letters went to all)

            6 boys with participation issues.  Math is against them.

 

 

Eagle Court of Honor – Lisa Harrison

            Spring Court – 9 Eagles – April 21st – support team is in place

 

 

Finance – Treasurer’s Report – Rob Day

            AR – $25,155

            Checking – $30,247

            PayPal – $9485

            Need to reach out to anyone who might need a campership.  Herb to send email.

 

 

Leadership – Bob Rohlf

            February 15th is end of leadership period.

            2/11 – Leadership position fair.

            Important that adult position coordinators are at the 2/11 meeting.

            2/18 – Junior Leadership Training

 

 

Advancement – Ernie Rupp

            Working on a way for scouts to understand where they are in the process without assembling at the table.

 

 

Mustangs – Jim Wasko

            18 first year scouts at the meeting last week (2/4) – all but 1 already signed up.

            Remaining scouts due to crossover prior to end of month. 

 

 

Community Service – Virgil Villarreal – No report

 

 

Training – Scott Bower – No report

 

 

Honor Camping Programs

            O/A – Rob Baker/Matt Roening

                        C-Team putting in a lot of extra time – give them an “atta boy” when you see them.

                        OA Elections will take place next month.

                        A month from now will nominate adults for OA.

                        Induction weekend May 4th.

                        Paid all OA dues.

            Mic-O-Say – Jim Wasko

 

 

High Adventure – Krista Cox

            Only enough scouts signed up for 2014 Philmont for one crew.

 

 

New Business/Open Discussion

            Committee Chair Discussion – McCabe/Antonic/Clary

                        Ron Clary – will become Committee Chair

                        Craig Antonic – will continue his efforts in recruitment

            Training Certificate Update – Shropshire

                        Believe that this is working overall.

                        Disconnect in the timing.  Suggested to go from year period to a period coinciding with rank.

                                    176 scouts (24 eagles, 24 not yet 1st class)

                                    Voted to carry the timing change proposal.

                                                New system to get scouts synched up with their color team leaders.

            Proposal to use a microphone at the Troop meetings.

                        We went through this effort 18 months ago but it didn’t work.

                        Need to get the parents to keep quiet at the back of the room.

                        Need SILENCE signage once people enter and turn to the right.
