Troop 10 Committee Meeting

January 9, 2005

Members Present

 

John Ahart, Chip Buckner, William Easley, Roger Eaton, Marc Elkins, Terry Ellis, Chuck Gibson, Denise Holt, Bob Key, Clarence Krantz, Bob Lehleitner, Larry Lehman, Jeff Muchow, Steve Ornduff, Brent Reynolds, Ken Roberson, Stu Sharp, Greg Spies, Joe Vogliardo, Jim Wasko & Greg Williams

 


 

Terry Ellis called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

 

Terry Ellis - recognized Brent Reynolds for a great Court of Honor, Rick Korvick and Denise Holt for a nice reception and Stu Sharp for the wonderful apple cider

 

William Easley – Scoutmaster update – sent out a letter with his expectations as the new scoutmaster - plans to meet at 5 PM for leadership team prior to committee meetings – Roger Eaton is taking his place as team leader – plans to emphasize importance of planning and cooking meals at campouts by scouts – also plans to make sure scoutmaster conferences are uniform

 

Clarence Krantz – discussed pending Eagle candidates and importance of helping certain scouts make sure they fulfill requirements – has Eagle Board of Review on 1/20 for a scout and needs 4 leaders to volunteer to attend

 

Terry Ellis– Treasurer’s Report – doing OK with income and outflows – new truck is paid for - we still need 35 families for Price Chopper and 25 families for Hen House for us to get the cash back that is there - fliers for Snow Creek on website – midnight session is reserved but campsite is on a 1st come basis – William Easley will be the camp master – roll call to be at 7 PM on Friday night – John Ahart will drive the truck for the Hawk patrol

 

William Easley – February campout – Wilderness Campout – hiking is optional – it is to learn to set up a campsite and discuss survivor skills – no location yet – Bill Haner is working out logistics

 

Greg Williams – Bartle 2005 – has team together – William Easley, John Ahart, Donald Campbell, Chuck Gibson – no further planning yet

 

Marc Elkins – Venture Crew 2010 was awarded 90 slots for Philmont 2006 from 6/29 to 7/11 - $520 per participant plus transportation – we must pay $50 per slot by 1/31 – 60 youth and 30 adult slots – must be age 14 by 1/31/06 or be 13 and have completed 8th grade by 6/29/06 – to go scouts and adults must be registered in the venture crew and there will be other requirements to be determined

 

Terry Ellis – asked that the committee agree to have the Troop pay for this by the 1/31 deadline - $4500 – it was agreed to do this - scouts who signed up for Boundary Waters 2005 are locked into a slot for Philmont 2007 - High Adventure – Scuba Trip – 6/10 to 6/20 – some slots are open -  Canoe Trip – 6/20 to 7/3 – must register by 3/31

 

Greg Spies – we have a new Troop truck – 8 bay – it has a governor on it – auto transmission, power brakes – 50 gallon gas tank –  suggests we get a rear camera, lights in the bays, shelving – we will be looking into a decal for sides and rear of truck

 

Ken Roberson – is taking donations for the truck for the Leawood Rotary Club – we have $4125 so far of the $6060 it cost

 

Greg Spies – Webelos Night at next Troop meeting – hope to have a good turnout – we will show slides of activities - asked that everyone respond to email to decide whether each scout will remain in the troop this next year

 

Terry Ellis – OA – Rob Wheeler is working on crossover activities for four packs so far

 

Greg Spies – MicOSay – plans to discuss participation with scouts at next campouts

 

Greg Williams – suggested we find a way to recognize a particular leader so that he can earn MicOSay advancement – we will try to come up with ideas to help make this happen

 

Terry – Roundtable – training on new scout registration process – also discussed training available for adult leaders which is on-line - old truck disposal – we will remove logo and sell it – Chuck Gibson and Bob Key will find out the value of the truck - new truck insurance - $230.60 every six months with current carrier – insurance needs us to give 5 names as drivers and they can designate others to drive - locker storage – possible new facility is not open yet – we will check prices - District Adult Recognition Event – 1/29 at 6 PM - $20 per person – we have three adults being recognized – coat and tie or scout uniform

 

Chuck Gibson – to meet with those who are helping with various aspects of the truck 

 

Greg Williams – thanked William Easley for the CD he made for Webelos presentation

 

Jim Wasko – a previous Troop 10 scout in his 20’s is dying of cancer – we will look into how our Troop can help

 

Terry Ellis – merit badge counselors for 2/5 and 3/26 Merit Badge College – let Herb know if you can do this – units are being asked to provide 2 adults for every 10 scouts attending

                                    Registration fee - Chris D’Adamo suggested we leave it at $100 – this is predicated on getting 35 new scouts and $5000 from the greenery fundraising

 

The meeting was ended at 8:00 p.m.
