Blake Williams called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

  

Introductions & Opening Comments – Blake Williams

  1. Welcome and introductions.  We met at Life Time Fitness because Blue Hills is closed in January.  Looking for volunteers to be a coordinator for Friends of Scouting and Patches / Scarves.
  2. Adult leader position update

 Scoutmaster Update – Greg Spies

  1. Senior Patrol Leader & ASPL’s   Thomas Ahart discussed the January Campout.  We will be holding an Iron Chef competition.  The competition is voluntary and food will be provided to scouts that participate.   Mr. Easley will talk about the new leadership positions at the campout to make the election process go smoother.  May do it at the Monday night meeting or the campout at Spies Farm East.
  2. Planning - Greg Spies Saturday/Sunday campout.  We will meet at the school and determine if the weather is appropriate for the campout.   Sundown service Saturday night.  Webelos night on the 28th of January.  Senior patrol leaders must be in High School and be at least a Life Scout.  Attendance for the last two campouts is still not in TroopMaster.  Deb Herman is responsible for the key strokes.  Blake Williams will discuss with Deb.

 

Advancement – Doug Ball

  1. Scout thru Life – Brent Reynolds/Doug Ball.  We still have gaps in the records.

 

  1. Eagle Candidates – Tracy Thomas – Tracy is replacing Clarence as the new Eagle Advisor.  3 scouts will be getting there Thursday January 17th.  Volunteers were selected at the meeting.

a.       Eagle Courts of Honor: program, costs, spring ‘08, etc.   9 men awarded eagle.  Cathy Cook will be replacing Denise Holt.  Chuck will be filling in for Tracy at the court.  Spring court will be 10 – 12 boys.

  1. Merit Badge Forum, Jan 19 & Feb 23 – John Martin 

Trailhead has requested help from troop 10 for counselors.  They need help with hall monitors also. 

Treasurer Report – Kevin O’Farrell (Not Present)

 Outdoor Activities – Tom Baker

  1. January, Fire & Ice Campout – Spies farm, January 12-13 37 scouts and 12 adults.
  2. February Campout, Feb 8-10  Ski Campout – Having trouble with the skiing merit badge. 
  3. March Campout, Feb 29-Mar 2 PLC still needs to decide what the theme will be.  67% of the boys do not have a conservation activity.
  4. Opportunities for Camping Merit Badge req. 9c, Conservation Project.  67% of the boys do not have a conservation activity.

High Adventure – Quintin Cockington

·         Packard (Now called Rocky Mountain High Adventure) in CO sometime in July.  $400 per person, Sun

·         Elkhorn, 100 miles north of Denver.  $300 per person

·         Scuba Diving, BleakBeard, $2400 per person including airfare.  Scuba lessons would need to be completed prior to camp or SeaBase.

·         Greg also recommended HH and Hila. 

·         Minimum age is 13 for all high adventure.

 

 

Equipment Coordinator – Chuck Gibson

  1. Equipment update.  New stoves have arrived in Wichita.  We won’t have them for this campout.  Chuck would like the previous quartermasters to bring there camp boxes 1 half hour prior to the Feb. 4 meeting.  Ski campout TBD.

 

Membership – Donna Wilson

  1. Recruiting update January 28th a letter has gone out to the Webelos.  1 3383 Stanley el  Feb 3002  Feb 10th 3538  3385 Feb 20  3476   3010 March 28  3472?  4488
  2. Need to find out how many T10 patches we have.  Mary will be stepping down as neckerchief maker.  Need a replacement.

 

Honor Programs

  1. O/A – David Contag Performed a crossover ceremony for round table.  Need a backup for David Contag.
  2. Mic-O-Say – Bob Tenny/Jim Wasko/Rusty Howell  Spoke about the issues
  3. Philmont - Remaining money will be divided and the remainder will be put into the Troop 10 account.

 

Bartle 2008 Update – Bob Key 130 Scouts and 38 fulltime adults

 

Adult Training Update – Scott Bower  Suggested everyone take the committee training online.  Woodbadge is coming up in the Spring.

 

Community Service Projects – Deb Dellinger (not present)

 

Trailhead District Round Table Information – Blake Williams

Received the Centennial Quality Unit Award.  January 26th is the Adult Recognition dinner.

 

New Business/Open Discussion – All

 

Patty Cokington, JLT is February 11th Hands on Leadership training.

 

Ken Roberson, Troop 10 is Non denominational and we typically don’t offer Religious Awards.  Ken suggested we should.

 

Mark Borsow asked if the patrols will change membership.  Greg said the plan is to have 4 new scouts in each patrol.

 

Agenda for Monday nights meeting.  Leadership overview and camping preparation.

 

Blake Williams adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
