Mike Coffey called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

Marc Elkins - stressed the need for two deep leadership on campouts – a concern over two wayward older scouts on the last campout was handled well by the adults – the issue was discussed with the parents of the scouts.

Mike Coffey – will send a note to reinforce the policy about scouts not driving their cars during a scout outing other than to and from an event, and to drive no other scouts other than a sibling – this does not apply to meetings

Mike Coffey – congratulated adults for putting together a great campout – there was a 6-7 mile hike

Marc Elkins – noted some scouts who worked very well with younger and newer scouts

Rick Isham – indicated that this campout was so successful they may try another one involving hiking – he thanked Terry Ellis for his help and invited feedback about positives and negatives of the campout

Rick Isham – next campout will be at Illig’s farm – 2nd year and up scouts will camp for two nights and Mustangs for one night – there will be an OA Tapout ceremony and catapult activity

Rick Isham – the late April campout will be one night – railroading campout

Greg Spies – Bartle – there will be some new merit badge classes – lakefront badges will be by lottery as are climbing and shooting – the price goes up if not registered by 4/15

Herb Strain – Merit Badge Sign up on 4/8/02 – this is especially important if scouts are interested in the Ranger Program

Greg Spies – all scouts will ride bus to and from Bartle

Herb Strain – we will divide Mustangs into patrols before April 27th campout

Terry McGinnis – 61 scouts and 23 dads have paid for Bartle

Greg Williams – to help Rusty with Grubmaster duties

Marc Elkins – OA elections at next scout meeting – there will be OA Induction weekends in May

Gary Bernhardt – 35-40 new scouts are expected from our recruiting efforts

Gary Bernhardt – is working on rechartering the Troop

Greg Kent – Eagle Boards of Review for 2 scouts coming up – 8 adults are needed for 3/21 to help

Greg Kent - 3 scouts are now approved for projects – 6 will be at next Eagle Court of Honor – the Eagle mentor program has 5 scouts participating – most are responding well

Herb Strain – there is a new software patch to the TroopMaster software

Larry Lehman – asked that 12 adults attend the Junior Leadership Training to help with the program

Mike Coffey – discussed advancement to scout rank for new scouts

Larry Stocker – looking at community service project opportunities – Habitat For Humanity is being planned – Community Service Day on 4/20 – we would need 50 fathers and scouts to do this – there are 3 other weekends in May we could do this also

Mike Beasley – suggested that Keys Home for Youth could use scouts to do community service projects

Larry Stocker – would like scouts and dads to respond to him about their availability for a work weekend on 5/18

Chris D’Adamo - discussed treasurer’s report

Mike Coffey - discussed issue of scouts who are no longer with the troop who still owe money but we have been unsuccessful in collecting – we will write a final letter to these families to request they pay their debt

Mike Coffey – suggested we get the truck in for suspension and steering work – Larry Stocker and Allan Schoof will look into options

Larry Stocker – discussed whether we will continue to use Blue Hills Country Club for committee meetings – we currently pay $50 for the room and set up – the club like a minimum out of our use of the room – probably $75 in addition to the room fee – it was decided he will continue to reserve the Club for the next year

Stu Sharp – 5 Venture Scouts went skiing with him and Cary Dikeman.

Greg Spies - Scuba High Adventure 7/26-8/1, 2003 – space is filling up quickly

Terry McGinnis – asked if camp masters will have Bartle paid for them by the troop – it was decided to do this

Jim Wasko - would like 1st year scouts to be involved with food prep at next campout

Larry Stocker - discussed new shirts for adult leaders – at next meeting they will be offered for sale – red shirts for committee members will be ordered too

The meeting was ended at 7:45 p.m.

                                                               Respectfully submitted
