Recognitions – John Martin for a great merit badge conference, Mark Morison for providing beverages, Tom Baker for his work on the Pontiac campout and Rich Caffree for volunteering his farm, Kevin O’farrell and Bob Key for updating the web site.  Brent explained the updates for attendance and advancement.  Jeff provided documents to the Leawood Rotory Club for continuing to support us as a 501c3.

 

Scoutmaster              Scott Weaver

Advancement            Brent Reynolds

Developing a new sheet that will show tasks completed for leadership positions.  We need to document adult leadership positions.

 

Clarence Krantz

Ten scouts scheduled for the Spring Eagle court on April 29.  Morgan Baker made it to Eagle!!!  Greg Spies, Doug Ball and John McCabe volunteered to be on the onsite BOA on Monday night.

 

Treasurer                  Kevin O’Farrell

Balance of Bartle fees due February 26.  Philmont payment will be due in February.  Purchased tents paid for Philmont and collected $18,000.  $8,000

Outdoor                     Tom Baker

February campout is scheduled for the 9th -11th at Rich Caffrey’s farm in Lucienne, KS.  It will be a pioneering event and the scouts will build a shelter to sleep in.  Recovered the truck on Wednesday but is very dirty.

 

*    March Campout will be at Fort Riley

April OA Campout is being moved to April 27th 28th.  Back to back with the OA campout.  Canoe campout will be held at the same place as last year.  We will offer an additional leg for the older scouts.   Greg Spies recommended we have the March and April campout closer together.

 

John McCabe Bartle Campmaster

102 scouts registered for Bartle and expecting 135 scouts.  Next Bartle meeting is scheduled for March 13th.  50 full time adults are attending.  No boys are allowed to attend day 0.  Day 0 is now free.

 

Grub Master              Rick Korvick, Denise Holt

Equipment                 Chuck Gibson

Accountability and tent inventory system.  8 patrols have not turned in inventory.  We need to reestablish the troop quartermaster position.  We only have 25 accounted tents.

 

Philmont Update       Jeff Muchow

Final Payments due 3/5/07.  We are planning a shakedown campout on March 9th.  We went from 50 to 81 slots for Philmont. 

 

Merit Badge Forum  John Martin

Additional outside merit badge opportunities on March 24 Truman Library and Wolf Creek Power Plant.  Nuclear Science is being offered.

 

Membership              Greg Spies

We have kid’s crossing over from new schools including Olathe Bible School.  We have 49 new Mustangs so far.  45 are already paper processed.

 

Honor Camping         Dave Contag - O/A

Jeff congratulated Dave Contag for his work with Honor Camping.  Vote for Mic-O-Say is the first week in June.  We will look at participation requirements for Eagle Scouts at the next committee meeting.

 

Adult Training           Blake Williams

Check website for leadership opportunities. 

 

Community Service  Deb Dellinger

Round Table             Weaver

Boy Scout Rotary camp is coming up.  Naishe work date on March 17 and Bartle March 31.

 

New Business:

 

*     Summer 2007 High Adventure Opportunities-Quintin Cokingtin / Bob Tenny.  This high adventure project for those that are 14 and younger.  A handout was passed out.  7 day Northern Tier vs. a 5 day a closer trip. 

 

*     Troop meeting space allocations.  Jeff apologized for the space issue.

 

*     Trailhead District Camporee-Subcommittee report.  A committee was appointed to make a recommendation on the Camporee.  Scott Weaver is the Committee Chair, other sub-committee members are Scott Bower, Jim Shetlar, Dan Schorgl, John McCabe.  They are not locked in for Lewisberg and Greg Spies will discuss other options with Scott Bower.

 

*     New Parent Orientation Meeting Schedule – Bartle overview – Please look at the troop calendar for dates.

 

*     Adult background information form-new initiative

 

*     Voted to purchase an LCD projector and boom box sound system.  Approved for $1000.  Bob Key will research and procure the equipment.

 

Jeff Muchow adjourned the meeting at 7:56 p.m.
