Blake Williams called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

Scoutmaster Update – Greg Spies

1. Canoe campout moved to graduation weekend – 16/17/18 May

a. School year winding down – need help w/ Mustangs

b. Need 2 Gators for OA Tapout campout

c. Sundown service was well received at last campout

1) Senior Patrol Leader – Will Fuehr

a) Report – Dodge Ball @ Monday meeting

b) Mustangs – physical fitness

c) Campout uneventful

d) Next campout – OA Tapout

i)   Orienteering course

ii) 2 nights

iii)      mustangs  arrive Sat. AM

iv)      Older scouts arrive Friday – fishing Friday PM

v)  Telescope?

vi)      Rob Wheeler has 9’ Totem Pole he’s willing to donate if Cliff is willing to allow us to plant

Outdoor Activities – Tom Baker

2) April, Fishing and OA Tap-Out, Illig farm, Apr 11-13

a) Similar to year’s past

b) Turkey hunting season – no activity south of barn

3) May, Canoe, May 16/17/18

4) Scott Weaver – Venture crew 2010

a) Crew has launched

b) Mission

i)   Pursue venturing ranger award – progress towards elite outdoorsmen

ii) Train as a community emergency response team –

iii)      8 weeks of training

iv)      Last Wed. 1st training session – 5 scouts attended

v)  back-up to Leawood Fire emergency response

5) High Adventure – Quintin Cokingtin

a) Rocky Mountain High Adventure

i)   2 crews 17 scouts/13 adults

a) Stu Sharp going to Montana for month of August

b) Questions location for Picnic in August @ Sharps Farm

10)   Tent committee will be formed to come to closure on this issue.

 

Bartle 2008 Update – Bob Key

11)   Telescope would like to purchase an attachment to the telescope

a) $179 cost apparatus will project image via computer to projector

b) Spies recommended purchase, Committee voted and approved the decision

 

Advancement – Brent Reynolds

12)   Scout thru Life – Brent Reynolds/Doug  Ball

a) Very good attendance at the merit badge forum

b) Blake putting together a committee to look at advancement

c) Mustang attendance sheets

i)   Deb Herman doesn’t have access to Mustang names

ii) Donna Wilson to forward to Deb Herman

13)   Recruiting update – Donna Wilson

a) 34 new mustangs

i)   May have 8 outstanding from Barstow – Rob Wheeler to work on

 

14)   Eagle Candidates – Tracy Thomas

a) No eagles scheduled for BR this month

b) 8 eagles to the spring COH

c) Many bumping up against 18th birthday

 

Finance – Kevin O’Farrell

15)   Treasurer’s report

a) Took in $30,000 for Bartle

b) Kevin would like to reduce fee such that it doesn’t include scarf

i)   New fee will $85 for new scouts – we won’t charge for neckerchiefs

c) Finance committee met once – will meet again to finalize results

16)   Fundraising – Barbara Cusick

 

Membership – Donna Wilson

Honor Programs

18)   O/A  – David Contag

a) Need to begin process for OA ballot – Contag to work with Strain for ballot

b) Following meeting – will finalize ballot

c) A number of Arrow of Light cross over ceremonies were performed by troop

i)   15 scouts participated

d) Discussion about details for OA tapout

e) May 2nd/3rd induction weekend

19)   Mic-O-Say – Bob Tenny/Jim Wasko/Rusty Howell

a) Wasco has sent out letters regarding participation

b) Mic-O-Say meeting was held at  campfire at last campout

 

Community Service Projects – Deb Dellinger

1. Delano School's Troop, Mini-Camp assistance

1. 22 special need boy scouts

2. never had a day campout before

3. 3 hours a mourning for 3 or 4 days

1. 1st aid

2. Archery

3. Skits    

4. would be between June 6th & June 16th

2. Deb will get more details and bring to the troop for consideration

3. David Contag raised the issue about a new scout crossing over to T10 who has special needs and troop’s need to be sensitive to issue

1. William Easley to evaluate if T10 should augment current process

Adult Training Update – Scott Bower

4.    Many adults working on certification

5.    Many adults need to take refresher of Youth Protection b/4 Bartle

 

Trailhead District Round Table Information – Scott Bower

6. John Wilcox who attended World Jamboree showed slides of event

7. National Jamboree opportunity coming up

8. Scout who attended Seabase presented info on activity

9. Jim Shetlar led discussion on risk management at Bartle

 

New Business/Open Discussion – All

Ken Roberson – Lyons club has asked for scouts to participate at their Pancake Breakfast and sell greenery at the event – 2nd week in October

Leawood 60th anniversary parade – Troop 10 has been asked to participate

 

Easley – off site merit badges at Bartle – Fly Fishing & Golf Merit Badges – need some starter sets

 

Donna Wilson – New Parent Orientation was scheduled for 4/21 – conflicts with school activity – needs to be rescheduled.

 

 

Blake Williams adjourned the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
