Scoutmaster/SPL Update – Garrett Shropshire/Michael Navickas

            Michael:           March 11 Meeting – planning for campout

                                    Dutch Oven Cooking for campout

                                    Bike Campout training/planning/example (spare tire, helmet, etc.)

 

 

John McCabe – this Wednesday night Friends of Scouting call night

                        37 family contributions so far; 20% of goal met

 

 

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Chris Blackwood/Ken Green

            February Recap – Fire & Ice – Mr. Spies’ Farm

                        Went fairly well.

                        Used 2 new stoves (went well).

                        Activity was well received.

            March – Katy Trail – moved back due to trail conditions

                        Ernie Rupp will stand in for Ken Green as Grubmaster.

            April – A/O – Service day the weekend prior.

                        Several people are meeting at Camp Timberlake Tuesday 3/12 at 5:30 to orient for campout.

            Highway Cleanup – weekend of April 20

            May – Same campsite as last year.  Canoe in other direction from last year.

            Ordeal – weekend of May 3/4.

            June – Mustang

 

 

Bartle - Ted Fuehr

            Last committee meeting prior to adult signup.

            Ted is working on planning for signup night.

            Mustangs – if on the roster, signup due by April 1.

           

 

Quartermaster Update – Chuck Gibson/ Jeromey Rutledge

            About 10 lanterns need to be replaced.  Cost – $36 each.  Propane fueled lanterns.

            Will need to rotate in some of the new tents at the OA Tapout in order to meet our needs.         

            Vote to purchase 5 tents and 10 lanterns:  carried.

 

            Adopt-A-Tent –

                        Handout has been distributed.

                        We have had a few takers.

 

            Need a primer on tent care for new scouts and new parents.

 

           

 

 

 

Membership – Craig Antonic/Becki Clary

            March 3rd – WWI Memorial Event to recruit new Webelos

                        Ten Webelos attended, plus 11 of our scouts.

                        Spent $111 to make it happen.

            35 new mustangs.

 

 

Life to Eagle – Lane Christenson

            2 to go through on March 14

            51 Life Scouts; 5 with completed projects; 9 approved at District

            5 17 year olds with work to do to get in position for Eagle.  (Letters went to all)

            6 boys with participation issues.  Math is against them.

 

 

Eagle Court of Honor – Lisa Harrison

            Spring Court – 9 Eagles – April 21st – support team is in place

 

 

Finance – Treasurer’s Report – Rob Day

            AR – $27,500

            Checking – $20,750

            PayPal – $7250

            Need to reach out to anyone who might need a campership.  Herb to send email.

 

 

Leadership – Bob Rohlf           

            All but 11 scouts in leadership positions attended JLT on 3/4.

            February 15th was end of last leadership period.

 

 

Advancement – Ernie Rupp

 

 

Mustangs – Jim Wasko / Matt Roening / Tim Yee

            Working on an agenda for mustang training.  Considering extending through October.

                        Allows efficient handoffs among adults in Jim’s absence.

            Model being developed – learn, do, practice, demonstrate mastering of skills.

                        Using the scout/trainers more to better benefit the troop.

 

 

Community Service – Virgil Villarreal

 

 

Training – Scott Bower

            Scott will be reminding people about upcoming adult training expirations.

            Outdoor training – April 14th weekend.

            Scott will be doing merit badge counselor training in April.

 

 

Honor Camping Programs

            O/A – C-Team crossover season is essentially complete.

                        Tapout weekend of April 5/7; new location; no pond/no canoe.

                                    Horseback entrance for chief and medicine man at campout – cost $200.

                                                Vote:  carried.

                                    Need flyer for the campout to be distributed.

                        Induction weekend May 4th. Additional adult leadership is appreciated. 80 campers that weekend.

            Mic-O-Say – Jim Wasko

 

 

High Adventure – Krista Cox

            Only enough scouts signed up for 2014 Philmont for one crew.

            Rocky Mountain group met – 12 adults, 12 scouts.
