Greg Kent – reported on scouts working on Eagle rank

Steve Ornduff – reported on scouts needing leadership responsibility to work toward their Eagle rank – would like to establish a deadline of 60 days after leadership period for all paperwork to be completed and turned in – it was decided to make this a policy

Marc Elkins – mustangs have been place in patrols

Herb Strain – Court of Honor on 5/20 – deadline for scoutmaster conferences, boards of review, etc. is 5/13 – Marc asked that as many parents as possible attend the next two meetings to help with this

Mike Coffey – instead of the 6/9 Troop Committee Meeting we will have a meeting of Mic-O-Say Tribal Council to begin at 5 PM – all adult leaders are invited

Mike Coffey – reviewed the policy for scouts who drive to and from events – it was voted to adopt this as a new policy:

“Older scouts are encouraged to continue participation in the troop, and the troop recognizes that due to the many demands on a high school student’s schedule, travel with the troop is not always possible.  Scouts are discouraged from driving personal cars to/from troop activities.  However, licensed scouts may drive to outings with parental permission provided that the following criteria are met:

·         The scout must advise the scoutmaster of his intention to drive and expected arrival time before the outing is scheduled to occur.

·         The scout must use his vehicle solely for the purpose of transportation to and from the scheduled activity.

·         He may not use the vehicle during the outing without the express permission of the scoutmaster.  This includes “hanging out” in the vehicle.

·         Other than siblings, no scout may transport another scout.

Under these circumstances, scouts and their parents need to be aware that they are not officially participating in a BSA-sanctioned event until their arrival at the activity location and may not be covered under BSA insurance.”

Herb Strain – suggested a new policy regarding alcohol in Troop 10 activities – it was voted to accept the following:

“Under no circumstances will Troop 10 tolerate the use of Alcohol or Illegal Drugs by any Scout or Adult prior to or during Troop activities.”

Mike Coffey – will send out suggested Committee Meeting and camping dates – we do know the following so far:

·         Camporee –10/18-10/20

·         September campout – 9/28-9/29 – Shooter Safety

·         Committee meeting  -  8/11

·         Troop meeting – 8/26

Bill Brady – discussed amounts owed by scouts and requirement that balances be paid by summer camp - $6000 is outstanding

Gary Bernhardt – discussed need to have health forms to him ASAP if dads or scouts plan to attend Bartle – he must have them prior to Bartle – adults will not be able to come to Bartle without the form being completed in advance

Allan Schoof – new springs on truck – it is much better to drive

Mike Coffey – Shotgun Merit Badge Class 5/11

      Cooking competition at Galyan’s – 6/8

-          Would like step down as High Adventure Coordinator – will help train a new person

Greg Spies – there will be a campout on 6/8-6/9 for 1st year scouts – some older scouts will be needed to help – purpose will be to work on prerequisites for Bartle Merit Badges
