Troop 10 Committee Meeting

Members Present

Terry Ellis called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

Introduced Jim Vano and asked the all present to self introduce with name and title.

 

Recognized and congratulated the following; Rick Korvick, Denise Holt and Herb Strain for great grub at the canoe campout, Greg Spies, Rob Wheeler, Glenn Alexander and Mike Coffey for great work with the Mustangs on the OA campout.  Bill Haner and all participating Assistant Scoutmasters for a great canoe campout.  Mike Coffey and Jim Wasko congratulated for a great job with the Mustangs at the canoe campout.  Joe Patterson did a great job as Grub Master at OA.  Cliff Illig for hosting Troop 10 at his farm.  Bill Haner as acting Scoutmaster.

 

Trailhead District Camporee, “Survivory 2005” September 23rd - 25th 2005 Camp Nash.

 

Need input from adults about new calendar when they are distributed next week.

 

William Easley            Scoutmaster Update

OA Tap Out – Offered a special thanks to Greg and Herb.  Patrol breakout working well.  Only two issues reported and the have been successfully addressed.  Five new patrols created and they are working out well.

 

John Ahart                  Canoe Campout

30 Mustangs attended good progress on advancement.  Additional fees for this campsite well spent to provide good fields, ball games and lots of advancement.  Campfire skits worked well, need to continue to monitor and facilitate positive jokes and skits.

 

Stu Sharp                    Special Request

Capital fund raising event.  Terry Dunn of Dunn Construction and wife Terry(member of the Rotary Club) are holding a fund raising dinner for $250 a plate.  The fund raiser is for a BSA capital campaign.  Date is scheduled for early in June.

 

Brent Rynolds            Advancement

                                    Need adults for speaking parts and need announcements prior to Tuesday for Eagle Court.

 

 

Clarence Krantz         Eagle Candidate Update

Need two volunteers for Eagle Board Thursday night.  Troop 10 scheduled for four Eagle Boards in June.  Collins Reynolds Eagle project is scheduled for next weekend.  LDS Church in the meeting place for Eagle Boards.

 

 

Joe Vogliardo             Eagle Court

Joe was not present but sent the following report.  Last Eagle Court went very well.  Five boys will make Eagle. 

 

Chris D’Adamo          Treasurer Report

Cash balance is down.  Chris is concerned about the cash flow and we are having problems collecting since Herb Strain has not been working on collections.  Only 20 out of 60 mustangs have paid.  Need parents to pay this Monday to improve the cash balance.  Terry Ellis - Troop account at HOAC – refunds are being sent to this account, $175 balance currently. 

  

Greg Williams            Bartle 2005 Status

117 Scouts, 52 adults (23 full time).  Jobs are being assigned now.  May 26, meeting at Stu Sharp’s place, for adults attending Bartle(Craker Barrel).  Bartle T-shirt response has been low.  Campmaster has selected a potential design but he will increase the reward to generate more design entries.  Ted Fuehr needs the design by June 1st.   Ted will enhance the design submitted by the winning.

 

                                    Black Beard and Boundary Waters Update

Terry, will lead the Black Beard group.  Boundary Waters - Need an additional adult leader or we will open to other groups.  We plan to eliminate one slot. June 26 and July 3 are the scheduled dates.

Chuck Gibson             Equipment Coordinator Update –

                                    Still need a water container for the truck.  Scouts will bring back all tents on Monday’s meeting.  Tents must be turned in by the Eagle Court of Honor.  Quartermasters have not turned in equipment list.    Patrol boxes will turn in Patrol Boxes at the Annual locker cleanup.

 

Greg Spies                  First Year Scoutcraft, June 13th – 14th

                                    Cooking, merit badge work shop for first year campout.  Need adults, guides and older scouts to participate helping with the Mustangs.  Greg asked to make an announcement at the next troop meeting.

 

Rob Wheeler              OA Honor Programs

Troop 10 has the highest induction rate in our Council.  Eight runners and more boys will do a ceremony in June.  Seeking volunteers for Camp Nash on Wednesday at 8:30am to produce stools and working on the flag mall.  A guided tour will be included.  Please contact Rob to sign up.  Everyone will meet at Rick’s house right above the barn.

 

Greg Spies                  Mic-O-Say Honor Programs

Elections will be held on Sunday, June 5th  at 5:00pm  Only Registered adults and Mic-O-Say members for adult selection.

 

Terry Ellis                  Adult Training Opportunities–

                                    Leadership session schedules have been emailed and are posted on the web site.

 

New Business

 

New Business             Discussed key open positions and Terry requested committee members solicit volunteers.

 

Sunday August 21st - Troop Picnic at Stu Sharp’s place.

 

Friends of Scouting – contributions have been lower than in the past.  Need adult help.  Troop 10 goal is approximately $13,000 and we are only half way.  Troop 10 does contribute at a much higher rate than other troops.

 

Troop Calendar draft will be distributed in the next week.g

 

District Round Table – Discussed the possibility of a mechanics’ Merit Badge. 

 

William Easley is looking for ideas for a Survivor contest. 

 

Open Discussion        All

 

§                                  Thank Rob for the great job at the OA. 

§                                  No old Goat Food will be distributed to Scouts, no exceptions.

§                                  First year parent meeting session at first year scout craft.  Jeff Muchow will lead the group.

§                                  Great job to the Mustang leaders.

§                                  Suggestion to have the Scouts cook for the Old Goat patrol and give the Grub Master a break.

§                                  Mothers are welcome at all campouts.

 

Terry Ellis adjourned the meeting at 7:55 p.m.
