                    behavioral issues at prior (2011) meeting

                    – new issues at the latest (4/30/12) meeting

                    – final warning from Blue Valley

Brian McCarthy

                                            – Canoe campout went well.

                                            – Cooking went well.

                                    – New morning procedure worked well. 2:15 to get out Sunday.

                                    – Good feedback from scouts.

 

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Scott Brown/Chris Pfeffer

May Campout –

                                – older scouts really helped those in trouble/younger scouts      

                    – maybe need still more training about congestion

                    – weather link on the flyer worked well

                    – different routes for future trips? (start right there and canoe downstream)

June Campout

                                – At Mr. Spies’ farm first weekend in June.

                                – All set for this campout.         

Spring OA Tapout

                        May not be at Mr. Illig’s farm either. Depends on construction progress.


 

            Vote for campouts conducted at 5/30/12 troop meeting.

                              all campouts were “yes” except Camporee

                                          youth leadership needed at Camporee

                                          can we find a way for it to be more fun for older scouts?

                                          we need to support the district

                                          vote on whether to attend – vote carried – will attend Camporee.

                                          asked to be the host for the family campout for the district

                                                      do we accept?

                                          host for all packs in Trailhead district

                                          would require activities Saturday morning/afternoon

                                          vote on whether to host – vote carried – decline to host this event.

 

Bartle Update – Tracy Thomas

            6 weeks from Monday 5/7.

Currently registering for all necessary programs.

            Everything on schedule. 

 

Equipment Coordinator – Chuck Gibson

Need more orange tent storage bags.

– Vote to approve bag purchase.

            Do we need to be sure every tent has its pole bags?

– If a lack of these is causing storage bag damage, we should address this also.

 

Scout Leadership – Bob Rohlf

 

Advancement – Julia Day

            Many rank advancements at Canoe campout.

            Court of honor 5/21/12 – cut off is 5/14.

            Many Mustangs need to get advancement still before cutoff.

                        – 17 to come.

                        – open requirements:  knot tying, fitness, etc.

                        – Mr. Wasko – will do a “catch-up” at PSMS @ 6:00 p.m. 5/14

                                    – communication to go to Mustang parents

 

Life to Eagle – Lane Christenson

            2 Eagle boards of review coming up May 17

                        – trying to get them back to back

 

Spring ECOH Update – Lisa Harrison – No report

                       

Finance – Treasurer’s Report – Rob Day

            AR:  $16,680 / Current Balance: $34,050 / PayPal $6600 / Checks for dep. $5500

            OA Weekend:  $3370 billed; $2630 to HOAC; $740 for incidentals/expenses

 

Honor Camping Programs

        Induction weekend went well.

                    32 ordeal candidates/21 brotherhood candidates participated.

        Another opportunity in 2 weeks for those who did not attend last weekend.

Mic-O-Say – Jim Wasko

 

Venture Crews – Tom Baker / Jeff Muchow

 

High Adventure – Howard Berkowitz – no report

 

Community Service - Virgil Villarreal

            3 scouts participated in Spencer Duncan event

                        Does this earn credit?  Yes.

            Need to be clear about credit status going forward.

                        When presenting a service opportunity, identify if it does or doesn’t earn credit.

           

Adult Training – Scott Bower

            Many adults need to update their certifications.

 

Do we still keep awarding the Carlson Farha Award for Most Outstanding Scout?

            Yes. Recognize an outstanding scout.

            Keep the award, but not named.

            Nominations to come from the committee members.

                        - criteria?  Outstanding Scout.  Leadership.  Lives the scout oath. 

            Garrett Shropshire and John McCabe will choose recipient from those nominated.
