Introductions & Opening Comments – Blake Williams

1.      Welcome and introductions – Blake called the meeting to order @ 6:00

2.      Thanked Jeff Muchow for running last month’s meeting

3.      Reviewed Adult Leader’s roster and needs to fill key spots

 

Scoutmaster Update – Greg Spies

1.   Report

·        Need a 2nd project for Webloes night – Monday after next campout

·        Scouts at last PLC wanted to have Wasko in Feathers (tribal attire)

·        Comando will be plaid at campout

·        No service project planned at the Feast

·        Discussion regarding too much adult noise at school

·        Chaplain aides will perform Grace at the Old Goats meals

·        1 Den of Webloes will join us for the feast – no overnight

a.      8 scouts

b.      3 dads

 

2.   Senior Patrol Leader – Briton Heck

·        Campout – Discussion regarding game for Feast

·        Discussion regarding appropriateness of a speaker from West Point addressing the Troop – Approved

·        Discussion regarding splitting color teams up during troop meeting to allow increased focus on each team – less distraction

 

Outdoor Activities – Tom Baker/Briton Heck

1.   November 15-16, Feast Campout

·        Venture Crew planning on going out Friday night

2.   December 6-7,

·        Landua Park – 3 miles N. of Blue Springs

·        Biking & Geo-Caching

·        1 night

4.      High Adventure – Quintin Cokingtin

a.      Philmont

                                                                                                                                                                                                  i.      4th crew going

                                                                                                                                                                                                ii.      42 going

                                                                                                                                                                                              iii.      6 slots still available for scouts

b.      October is the month to enter the lottery for calendar year 2010

                                                                                                                                                                                                  i.      Consensus is that troop should apply for 2 crews

c.      Blackbeard’s adventures should also be pursued

1.      November Feast Campout

a.      Attendance – approx. 170

Membership – Donna Wilson

1.   Recruiting update

2.   Webelo meeting - need 2 projectors

·        Webeloes night is Monday after Feast

·        13 cubs coming from various packs

 

Crew 2010 Update – Scott Weaver/Jim Leaper – Plan to meet Monday after Troop Meeting

 

Community Service Projects – Deb Dellinger

1.   Salvation Army Bell Ringing, November and December – No report

 

Leawood Lions – Gary Flick/Chick Atwell

1.         Discussion

a.      Truck was in Leawood Parade

b.      Pancake participation also went well – Barb Kozial has record

 

Advancement – Brent Reynolds – Doug Ball

1.   Scout thru Life – Brent Reynolds/Doug Ball

·        Numerous 1st class scouts needing JLT training / position when it occurs middle of period

·        Discussion regarding solutions

o       One on one w/ position coordinator/color team leads

2.         Eagle Candidates – Tracy Thomas

a.      Prep for COH progressing

b.      17 young men will go through 2 weeks from tonight

c.      Could have another 12 to 14 in the Spring

 

Finance – John Martin

1.     Treasurer’s report

·        14,000 in bank

·        Big checks went out to Philmont

·        AR of $4,800

·        John to follow-up

2.     Fundraising – Barbara Cusick

·        Greenery packets Oct 6, collect Oct 27, delivery November 18-26

3.    2009 Fees

·        Prior year fees have been $100 + $12 for Boy’s Life + $10 Order of Arrow + $10 Adult

·        Motion on the floor included an amendment for pro-ration after Bartle.

·        Motion passed

3.         Donation for Shooter Safety Municipal officers - $200

 

Honor Programs

1.   O/A  David Contag

·        coo’s of the Far Traveler have been received

·        Kevin Tenny has been elected District Assistant Lodge Chief

·        January Banquet

2.   Mic-O-Say – Bob Tenny/Jim Wasko/Rusty Howell

 

Trailhead District Round Table Information

·        Trailhead District Merit Badge Forum

o       January 10 / Feb 7

·        Trailhead District Dinner – January 24th

 

New Business/Open Discussion – All

·        Email – Trey Lelightner assistance with trauma case

o       National Scouting organization has a number of awards that the committee would like to pursue

§         Medal of Merit

§         National Certificate of Merit

§         Additional Counsel recognition could occur

·        Should Troop donate a picnic table to Camp Ernst?

o       Grubmasters will pursue at next purchasing expedition

·        Rusty Howell is retiring from Scouting

o       Rusty has communicated that the last Bartle was his last one

 

Blake Williams adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
