Marc
Elkins – thanked everyone for making the Shooter Safety Campout go so well – he
encouraged everyone to participate in the upcoming Camporee – it is our recruiting
effort for scouts and parents
Marc Elkins
– would like to review how we do advancement in Troop 10 vs. BSA suggestions
esp. for boards of review and Scoutmaster conferences – Terry followed up with
concerns about this process as delineated to him in a letter from a scout
parent – a discussion followed about the various points of view of leaders
It was
decided that skills testing of scouts would occur at Scoutmaster conferences
and Boards of Review (consisting of at least one registered leader) would be
used to review how they are doing in the troop. This is more in line with the BSA policies. Herb will make any changes to the Troop 10
policies that are needed.
Larry Lehman
reminded the committee that in inclement weather Prairie Star Middle School now
allows us to use the hallways to and in front of the gym, but we must not use
the gym or classroom hallways
Chris D’Adamo
– Treasurer report – some past debts have been cleared up
Steve Ornduff
– Bartle 2003 – they had first official committee meeting – the draw for
session and campsite is 10/16 – he anticipates we may have up to 150 scouts –
Bartle charges are going up $5 so our charges are going to be $265 for scouts
and $235 for parents
Herb Strain
– he and Greg Spies and Marc Elkins went to Camporee site to set up the
orienteering course - we will run this
and also facility planning (Greg Spies is doing this with help from others) –
Herb Strain has sent over 100 letters of invitation – we plan to do a monkey
bridge and doughnuts as demonstrations when Webelos visit our troop – dens we
host will participate with us in competitions – our patrols will also have
lunch cooking competitions if they choose to participate – the observatory and
Louisburg Halloween event will also be activities
Rusty

will plan

– 14 Eagle scouts at the next Eagle Court of Honor on 11/24 – he needs parents
to help with Boards of Review on 10/17 -
he suggested that cutoff dates be sooner so that things are not done at
the last minute – it was decided that 2/20 will be the cutoff for a scout to
have everything completed prior to the next Eagle Court on 4/27/03
Marc Elkins
– Leawood Rotary Club had a successful fundraising event – we will try to do a
presentation regarding our troop to them
