Bill Haner – gave appreciation to Brent Reynolds for the great job he is doing

Scoutmaster update: we are getting our program set for the Camporee – Webelos were at the troop meeting last week – Col. Thorness meeting was a good one for our scouts – Troop 3385 has asked for our assistance at their family picnic and we have 3 scouts and one leader who will attend

Ken Roberson – we will schedule the new Eagles into a Rotary Club meeting when their status is official

Bill Haner – discussion of selecting a new scoutmaster – Terry Ellis wants the committee to be involved – a discussion followed and preferences were noted by ballot

Noted that there are 8 candidates for the next ECOH – 4 still have to complete their Eagle boards – adults are needed to be advocates and to sit on the boards both at 7 PM and 8 PM on 10/21 – one scout is getting close to age 18 and is needing to complete requirements for Eagle

Joe Vogliardo – had 1st meeting for parents for upcoming ECOH – it will be at BV North

Chris D’Adamo – Treasurer Report: $3000 of $5000 owed from scouts is from last year – these scouts are still mostly in the troop

Bill Haner – Fundraising: Alan Myers sent out greenery packets last week

Rob Wheeler – Section Conclave was very good – great experience for the 3 adults and 2 scouts who went – next year it will be in Wichita and in 2006 it will be hosted by Tamagonit – there were 48 people from HOAC there – there were a lot of programs that were optional, great food and it was a relaxing time – it counted as a campout – there were no work activities or ceremonies – the rules were very friendly and laid back – they got to see the patches and customs of the other troops – it was totally scout led – officers were elected for the section while there.

Rob Wheeler – has been looking into troop specific recognitions that might spark our scout’s interest in OA – consideration of awarding the Legends Strip for major participation in our Ceremony Team was discussed and how to promote this idea with the scouts

Greg Spies – MicOSay and OA meeting with scouts at the last campout went well – expectations were discussed – it will be done again at November campout

Rick Isham – Shooters Safety Campout – well received – changes from previous year were well received by the boys – Paul Bertrand was thanked for the planning he did

Herb Stain – Camporee – firm #’s from 5 of 7 Packs we have invited for a total of 72 Webelos and 64 adults – we are still waiting for #’s from the other packs – a menu has been put together to cook for 250-300 people – we will also have a cracker barrel for 400 people – the observatory will be open- $2 suggested donation – no Haunted Forest – we will have a time to talk with guests about Troop 10

Rick Isham – needs a volunteer to drive the troop truck to the camporee

-          Feast campout – Camp Ernst – we have possibility of having a climbing and rappelling event at Ironwoods Challenge Course for 18-20 scouts – cost is $30 – it will last 5 hours – this will count towards part of the climbing merit badge – sign up will be on the campout sign up - there will be other activities for scouts

-

Herb Strain – Bartle 05 – we will be getting our dates for this at a meeting on 10/21 – there was a discussion of which sessions to request in which order

Bryce Wells- High Adventure – Cat Ppalu Cruise to the Northern Exuma Islands near Nassau – we have a boat for 2 weeks so we will go in 2 groups of 12 – cost is $1048 – 6/6 and 6/13 are current starting dates – a deposit for each week is needed soon – we will look into late July as a possible date

letter from Philmont – if we sent crews to Northern Tier this year we will be guaranteed Philmont crews in 2007 – space is reserved for 2 crews beginning 6/27  for a 7 day trip from Idecochen    discussed possibly signing up for Cavalcade

Herb Strain – discussed our current request for crews for Philmont which will happen in 2 weeks

Chip Buckner – 2005 Jamboree - $1600 – sign up at HOAC

100th Anniversary of Scouting in the World in 2007 in Essex, England

Greg Spies – equipment – we are going to buy 10 more white tables

- we still need a truck – an 8 bay beverage truck would be optimal – 2nd choice would be a taller delivery truck

- we have replaced a lot of pans and implements

- patrol box inspections to begin at this campout

- we may need to buy more tents

Chuck Gibson- needs a source for a turn signal light for the current truck if current one cannot be located

Bill Haner – Roundtable – no Klondike this year – on 1/14 – 1/16 is Rendezvous near Newton, Ks – it is well organized and a lot of fun – it is what old time trappers did – we will discuss this further next month

HOAC annual business meeting on 11/17- Silver Beaver awards given then- it is on 1/29 and costs $20

District Recognition Dinner  - 12/2 is deadline to turn in recommendations for awards – forms are on the website – it should go thru Terry Ellis

Bill Haner– we got $250 from Woerpel family to be used in an award for a scout – we will                                need further discussion about this

Herb Strain – Haunted House – Muchow family is coordinating this for 10/28

Roger Eaton- made a video of Medal of Honor presentation and has this available for viewing.   County and state fairs have a boy scout category and one of our scouts won it this year

Steve Ornduff – went to Venture Leader Training – doing this is more involved than we have done it in the past – for youth ages 14- 20  -  it could dilute older leadership in our troop – suggested we consider a venture patrol as a possible alternative – plans to meet with Marc Elkins to further discuss

The meeting was ended at 7:30 p.m.

                                                               Respectfully submitted

Larry Lehman
