Introductions & Opening Comments – John McCabe

Welcome and introductions

Adult Leader Needs:

Committee Chair – after the 1st of the year after re-charter

 

Leawood Lions – No Update

 

Scoutmaster/SPL Update – Garrett Shropshire unable to attend / Eric Garcia unable to attend

 

            Monday 10/8 – Meeting at Leawood Middle – Need to keep things under control.  Best behavior.

           

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Scott Brown/Ken Green

            October 19-21 – Trailhead District Camporee – signup has started.

                        Agenda sent out by district.

                        Tim Navickas second in command.

                                    Will we build a catapult? Will we have our Mic-o-say fire builders

                                    Need to bring snacks for Friday night Cracker Barrel.

                                    We need to contribute 4 adult helpers to man 2 activities.

                                    T10 song – Chariots of Fire.

                                    Cookoff – will we participate?  SPL to determine.

                                    Will Weblos participate in activities?  With our patrols?

            November 10/11 – Feast – reservation has been made – Naish – 2 campsites. 

                                    Hosting inner city troops again this year. 

                                                No charge to them – voted and carried – yes.

                                                Suggested to ask them to participate in cooking a dish or two.

            December 1/2 – TBD – conflict with county for Landau the planned weekend (to be resolved @ SPL mtg)

                                    SPL chose to keep Landau but move back 1 weekend.

                                                Need to make sure that we update the calendar.

 

Bartle - Ted Fuehr

            Deposit paid for Bartle.

            Got second session in Seneca and Pawnee.

           

Quartermaster Update – Chuck Gibson – No Update

           

Membership – Craig Antonic / Renee Andrews – No Update

 

Life to Eagle – Lane Christenson / Eagle Court of Honor – Lisa Harrison

            13 scouts going through ECOH this fall.

            Everything is in order as of now for the ECOH.

            1 Eagle candidate for roundtable on Oct. 18th –

 

Finance – Treasurer’s Report – Rob Day

            AR – (-$969)

            Check - $19,000

            Paypal - $17,700 (after Bartle deposit)

            Approx. 60% of expectation signed-ups so far in Bartle deposits.

 

Fall Fundraising Updates – No Updates

            Popcorn

            Greenery

 

Leadership – Bob Rholf

            List of scouts needing to complete paperwork to fulfill leadership requirements for last leaderships period       plus list of scouts needing to complete scout skills certificate given to color team leaders.

            Asking all of the scouts to go to site and download Leadership 101 packet.

 

Advancement – Ernie Rupp

            Julia Day will continue to handle the court of honors during transition period to help out.

 

Community Service – Virgil Villareal – No Update

 

Training – Scott Bower

            Everyone needs to make sure their Youth Protection is up to date. 

 

Honor Camping Programs

            O/A – Rob Baker

                        C-Team has 15 members for this year and they have started rehersals for crossover season.

            Mic-O-Say – Greg Spies / Jim Wasko

                        Revised MOS requirements – back to the way they used to be.

                                    Must attend a majority of activities, campouts, meetings, etc. (majority of all items).

                                                Doesn’t have to be a majority of any one category (e.g. camping).

 

High Adventure – Krista Cox

            Follow-up on appropriate (fitness) condition for high adventure.  National rules based on Part D.

                        Suggest that we require physician’s + parent’s signature on Part D.  Takes burden of troop.

                                    Agreed to by committee.

 

New Business/Open Discussion

            Recycle/Compaction

                        How do we generate less waste at campouts?

                        Should we try to recycle/incinerate/compact our waste?  Is this worthwhile?

                                    Adults should lead the way here.

                                    Can we pack for the campout better to reduce waste prior to departing for each campout?

                                    Potential Scout Leadership opportunity in 2013

            Training Certificate Process Efficacy

                        Table until next month.

            Highway cleanup – 52 scouts.
