A big thank you to Rick Korvick, Denise Holt, Stu Sharp and all helpers for making the Troop Picnic a great success.  Welcomed new attendees and encouraged them to take on leadership positions.           

 

Scoutmaster Update    William Easley           

Collins Reynolds was elected as Senior Patrol Leader.   Bill Haner complimented William on the new Scout leaders induction process that he implemented.

 

 

Outdoor Activities        William Easley/Bill Haner

The committee approved the 2005/2006 camping program proposed by Bill Haner and William Easley.  The only change made switched the December and February campouts.  Silver Dollar City (October), a new location at Katy Trail (March) and Commando Skills (November) are some of the campouts decided on. We want to have a hiking and back packing component to each campout.  December is Whiteman AFB (hiking/backpacking)  Skiing in January.  February is Cave or Cosmosphere.   OA Tap Out (April) and then the canoe trip (May).  Spies Farm for Scout craft in early June.   

 

High Adventure            Bryce Wells

Troop was awarded a Philmont 2007 Trek slot as a result of the 2005 Boundary Waters trip and we are awaiting dates.   Wells, Haner, Ellis and Williams will coordinate the 2006 Philmont trip.  Philmont will be the High Adventure activity for 2006.  Troop 10 needs $22,000 by October.  Need a response by September 15 or our slots will go to other troops.  Scouts are encouraged to invite other Scout friends outside the troop.  Adults $224.40 and children are $111.20 for Amtrak.  . 

 

Treasurer Report         Chris D’Adamo

                                        16,000 in the checking account, Philmont reserve of 1,600. 

 

Grub Master                  Rick Korvick

Rick and Denise will not be available because of Rick’s brothers wedding.  Need a lunch that can be served for 500 people.  Rick suggested a backup for Rusty.  We may need additional coolers.  The committee approved Chuck Gibson purchasing the necessary new cooler.

 

Fund Raising                 Terry Ellis for Alan Myers

Greenery packets will be handed out at the Oct 3 meeting  

 

Bartle Treasurer           Herb Strain           

$665 refunded from Bartle   Balance $6,187 at Bartle.  Herb has volunteered to keep the Bartle Binders and was elected to continue as the lead administrator for Bartle.  Late fees will be reviewed by the committee at a future meeting.  We will look at late fees to be moved later than October.  Research will be done for late fees. 

 

Honor Camping O/A     Rob Wheeler 

8 youth and 2 adults will attend Naish at 8am on Saturday.  Climbing tower will be open.  Each of our boys will have the ability to create regalia.  Section conclave is in Wichita and Rob encouraged everyone that can to attend on the 21-22.

New Business:

 

Committee Positions    Terry Ellis

Open positions include Grub committee members, 30-year anniversary coordinator, Community Service Chairperson, Adult Recognition coordinator, Assistant Scoutmasters and High Adventure Chairperson.  A Neckerchief Seamstress was added at the recommendation of the committee.

 

Quarter Master             Chuck Gibson

Troop Locker Inventory & Truck Loading was completed on Saturday, September 10th; 8:00am.  Chuck is replacing globes on the lanterns.  Tents were passed out.  We are missing one new tent and a total of 18 tents are missing. Troop 10 will be printed on each of our tents.  We are also missing 7 camp boxes.

 

30 year anniversary     All

The anniversary will be held at the December Court of Honor.  The troop will give recognition of former Scoutmasters and Eagles.  Coffee and Cake will follow the Court.  We will contact the local papers to drum up publicity.  Terry is looking for a volunteer to head up the committee.

Outdoor Leader Skills Oct 2

September 20 and October 1 Outdoor leader skills

 

Round Table                 William Easley

                                        Encouraged members to attend the round table.

 

Need help for Katrina.  Rob Wheeler is coordinating. Committee will consider helping devastated BSA council over 2006 Spring Break. 

 

Leawood rotary is having its annual auction.  Donations are encouraged.

 

Eagle Court of Honor on 11/20

 

 

Open Discussion          All

 

Junior Leadership training will be held on Monday.

 

Greg Spies is coordinating Friends of Scouting.

 

Debra Howell has the patches for neckerchiefs.  She is making 70 and need volunteers for additional.

 

Need a Grub Committee, still need 3 more.  Need help to coordinate the 30-year anniversary.

 

Terry Ellis will send Chris D’Adamo information to submit $250 to the Marc Elkins Philmont Scholarship.  This is the appreciation gift to the Sharp’s for sharing their farm for our annual Troop picnic. 

 

 

Terry Ellis adjourned the meeting at 7:37 p.m.
