1.             Introductions & Opening Comments - Blake Williams called the meeting to order at 6:00PM

a.             Commitment Cards distributed

b.            T10 sets the pace for the Trailhead district

3.             Jeff Muchow recognized William Easley as District School Night for Scouting Chair for Trailhead District

 

4.             Leawood Lions - Gary Flick/Chick Atwell – Report

a.             Pancake breakfast ticket sales – decided not to compete w/ greenery sales

b.            If there are scouts who don’t go to campout, they can assist w/ Pancake days.

c.             Parents are invited to attend while scouts are at campout

d.            Lions would be willing to hold a separate pancake fundraiser if troop needs

 

5.             Calendar and Facilities - Elaine Navickas - No Report

 

6.             Scoutmaster/PLC Update - Jim Cook/ Bill Gurney

a.             Bill Gurney – attempting to make meetings more exciting

                                                              i.                Next meeting – game show format – all the information you need to pass a Scoutmaster Conference

                                                              i.                Ted Fuehr – has taken over attendance at Monday meetings

1.             Challenge is that scouts are all over the place

2.             After opening, Bill Gurney will announce it is time for attendance

3.             Shut down all tables during Flag ceremony and attendance

 

7.             Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) - Scott Brown/Bill Gurney/Chris Pfeffer

a.             Sept 24-26, Centennial Campout

                                                              i.                +11,000 Scouts expected

                                                            ii.                T10

1.             92 scouts

2.             48 adults

3.             Total of 140

 

                                                           iii.                Location is not at Naish – new location north of Naish near Sandstone

                                                           iv.                Only have 48 parking passes – will need to carpool

                                                             v.                No access by personal vehicles – only by shuttle

                                                           vi.                Our campsite is called “Johnson”

                                                          vii.                No room for  equipment except backpacks – tents will taken out early

                                                         viii.                Troop Truck will not be going

                                                           ix.                No Room for dinning fly

                                                             x.                Tents will be transferred out to site ahead of time

                                                           xi.                We’re not cooking – but will have cracker barrel Friday Night

 

b.            Oct 15-17, Venture Crew Recruiting/Webelos/Shooter Safety, Illig Farm

                                                              i.                Need to set budget for campout

                                                            ii.                Scott recommended one fee for all adults and it was approved

                                                           iii.                Cub Scouts and 1st year Boy Scouts will join venture crew Saturday

 

c.             Nov 12-14, Feast

                                                              i.                Location set at camp Ernst

                                                            ii.                Need to procure a couple of picnic tables

 

d.            Dec 3-5, Campout – Landau Park – Blue Springs

 

8.             Equipment Coordinator - Chuck Gibson

a.             Locker cleanout / tent inventory / truck loading occurred yesterday

b.            Lane Christiansen has volunteered to manage the tents

c.             Tents will be picked up after the centennial campout and distributed to patrols prior to October campout

d.            58 tents

e.             21 tents possibly missing w/ no trace

 

9.             Membership - Renee Andrews - Recruiting update

a.             Webelos meet the Troop Nights

                                                              i.                Sept 16, Atonement Lutheran Church (9948 Metcalf), 7 pm

                                                            ii.                Sept 21, COR, Room 220, 7 pm

                                                           iii.                Rob Baker and Jim Thomas to assist w/ displays

                                                           iv.                We have a big group coming in from Mission Trails

 

 

b.            Discussion about Troop Ambassadors – scouts willing to get in with the Webelos and recruit

b.            Troop leadership positions are open

                                                            ii.                2 buglers are being recruited

                                                           iv.                4 religious instructors

                                                           iii.                Largest Past Due receivable has contacted us for $700

                                                           iv.                1st installment for Philmont due in Sept.

                                                              i.                Looking for Adult volunteer to act as advisors to program

 

15.          Adult Training

a.             Report - Scott Bower  - Troop in good position – 76% trained but still room for improvement

 

16.          Greenery Sales – Karrin Berkowitz

a.             LY – $8,733 4.3% inc.

b.            4 scouts did total buyout of $50 LY

c.             99 scouts did some sale w/ some buyout

d.            Move to leave buyout as same as last year

e.             Voice vote approved leaving buyout at @ $60 for no sales and $50 for those who sell

 

17.          New Business/Open Discussion – All

a.             Discussion regarding definition of “Troop Activity”

                                                              i.                There have been inquiries about what counts as an activity

                                                            ii.                Only time activities count is for 2nd and 1st class advancement

1.             Community service didn’t count as an activity

                                                           iii.                Blake Williams passed out a definition of an “activity” that is currently on the website

                                                           iv.                Blake to propose additional language on definition of “Activity Credit” for future Committee consideration

b.            Mark Boresow Award Fund – letter went out to troop

c.             Chuck Gibson – Junior Achievement League of KC – need a color guard at Downtown Marriott – stay for dinner – Thursday 18th of November before Fall Feast
