Introductions & Opening Comments – John McCabe

 Welcome and introductions

Adult Leader Needs:

Recruiting Chair – Craig Antonic has agreed to step in here as well as with Den Chief Coordinator       

Renee Andrews to keep administrative component of Membership, including paperwork.

Advancement Chair – Ernie Rupp has agreed to take over these duties from Julia Day in October

Committee Chair – after the 1st of the year after re-charter

 

Leawood Lions Update – no update

 

Scoutmaster/SPL Update

     – Monday 9/10 – plan to have an activity involving answering questions to get components to build a bridge and see who builds the bridge fastest.

     – 16 patrols (4 per color team) – need more adult interaction

                 – main goal – get the color team leader to become go-to person for patrols

     – SPLs would like more adult oversight when the troop breaks into color teams at the meetings

 

Outdoor Activities (Camping/Grubmaster) – Scott Brown/Ken Green

     September – Fishing Campout – all set for this campout; issues with eating fish from lake?

     October 19-21 – Trailhead District Camporee – signup has started

     November 10/11 – Feast – reservation has been made – Naish – 2 campsites

     December 1/2 – TBD – conflict with county for Landahl park the planned weekend (to be resolved @ SPL mtg)

 

Bartle Thorns & Roses – Tracy Thomas / Ted Fuehr

     Aiming for second session again in 2013

     Troop Bartle Signup night is 4/1/2013 – plan on setting up a printing station

     How to handle kids who are not picked up on time after Bartle session?

     Need to rework the bad weather system – make a new plan (based on physical changes at Bartle).

     Cut down on amount of food we buy to eliminate waste (much left over this year).

     2012 Bartle net income was ~ +$2900.

 

Quartermaster Update – Chuck Gibson

     Locker cleanout (9/8) went well.

     Instructed quartermasters that it is not their responsibility to bring all patrol’s tents to each campout.

     Tents – 12 issued per color team.  Goal to keep those tents assigned to that color team all year.

     3-4 spare tents remaining (of variable condition).

     Purchasing 20 additional tents.

     Issued 4 new camp boxes to the 4 new patrols.

     Truck serviced – good for another year.

 

Membership – Renee Andrews

     Starting to see Webelos/crossovers/new scouts starting in September (2 new).

     No word on den crossover dates as of yet.  No specific received.  Started in November in 2011.

Webelo meet the troop night is coming up.  Need neckerchiefs for new scouts.  Chris Pfeffer pursing an outsource solution

     Need an official start date for Webelos so that they can all start at the same time (for ease).

 

 Life to Eagle – Lane Christenson

     14 Eagle Court participants for fall ECOH.

     7 going for roundtable this time (6:30, 7:30, 8:30 slots)

                 Need advocates for two time slots and 9 committee members as participants – 9/20.

     Plan to change the mechanism for reviewing the books/proposals. (Less email review)

     Trying to incorporate the color team leader more into this process. (Prior to first roundtable)

 

Eagle Court of Honor – Lisa Harrison

     Parent meeting dates are set and soon to be communicated to ECOH parents.

 

Finance – Treasurer’s Report – Rob Day

     AR Balance = $3500

     Checking Balance = $20,300

     PayPal Balance = $26,000

 

Fall Fundraising

     All fundraisers contribute to buyout.

     Popcorn – can wear scout uniform

     Greenery – packets handled out on 9/24 (call for volunteers to assemble packets 9/17)

                 – suggest incentive if you sell over $250 ($250 gift card – proposed and carried out)

                 – sales 9/24 – 10/17

                 – delivered 11/14-11/21

 

Leadership – Bob Rholf

     Training certificate dates coming up.

 

Advancement – Julia Day/Ernie Rupp – No report

 

Community Service – Virgil Villarreal – no report

 

Training – Scott Bower

 

Honor Camping Programs

     O/A – Rob Baker

–     Matt Roening – training as OA chair

–     4 new OATR scouts

–     C-Team signup Mon. 9/10

–     Planning modest campfire for Sept campout.   Should be enough wood at campsite.

–     Proposal to have scouts make a deposit on C-Team regalia (refundable) – review with OATRs to discuss the situation and add to their leadership responsibilities.

     Mic-O-Say – Greg Spies / Jim Wasko – No report

 

High Adventure – Krista Cox

     Should it be a policy of the troop that each participating scout has a responsible adult?

     Should the crew leader have the right to refuse to accept a participant?

     To be discussed further at next committee meeting.

 

New Business/Open Discussion

     Eagle Corps Patch

                 Ron, with Ted, created a design for a new patch for Eagle Corps participation. 

                 Should Troop 10 be funding this patch?

                             Proposed to distribute the patch within T10 only (carried). 

                             Wider distribution at a later date is possibility – discuss with Council as appropriate.

     Herb Strain needs a new laptop.

                 Proposed that T10 will pay for new laptop ~$650 (carried).
