Troop 10 Committee Meeting

September 8, 2002

Members Present

 

Glenn Alexander, Gary Bernhardt, Paul Bertrand, Mike Coffey, Rick Cunningham, Chris D’Adamo, Cary Dikeman, Steve Dunning, Marc Elkins, Chuck Gibson, Bill Haner, Rusty Howell, Rick Isham, Joe Johnson, Greg Kent, Larry Lehman, Brent Reynolds, Allan Schoof, Stu Sharp, Greg Spies, Herb Strain, Mike Ulm, Jim Wasko, Bryce Wells & Greg Williams

 


 

Mike Coffey called the meeting to order at 6:00pm

 

 

Paul Bertrand – September campout – NRA members will be at the next troop meeting and at the campout – patrols to cook on their own and adults will eat together – Sharks are the coordinating patrol - $25 per scout or adult

 

Herb Strain – going to Camporee committee meetings with Greg Spies -  Camporee to be in Louisburg – 2 nights – he mailed letters to Webelos groups to invite them to camp with us - $12 per scout and $20 per adult ( to cover meals and district charges) – will volunteer our troop to help with the events – Troop 257 is the organizing troop and we are helping them

 

Herb Strain – Court of Honor on September 9 -  there will be a Friends of Scouting presentation

 

Herb Strain – needs a parent to help coordinate a fund raising effort for our troop – collecting used inkjet cartridges, sending them to Inkjet Collect and in return we receive $1 for each one – Brent Reynolds will do this

 

Herb Strain – there is a lifesaving merit badge makeup session – check the website for date and time

 

Herb Strain  – has brochures for leader training – a good idea for all participating parents

 

Chris D’Adamo – we are OK with our finances currently

 

Mike Coffey – led a discussion on where our finances stand vs. expected expenses for equipment replacement and other expenses vs. fund raising efforts we have traditionally done – it was decided that we will do greenery sales again with any profit above the buyout of $40 be credited to the Scouts account

 

Greg Spies – Troop locker cleanout on 9/14 8am – tents will be issued to patrol quartermasters

 

Greg Spies – needs check for those who will be going on scuba trip next summer - $300

 

Greg Kent – 3 scouts are eligible for the next Eagle Board of Review – 3 others will turn in their project soon – 10 potential scouts for the next Eagle Court of Honor – 8 parents are needed for the Eagle Boards of Review

 

Joe Johnson – next Eagle Court of Honor on 11/24 to be at  BVNW – meetings with parents to begin 10/1

 

Herb Strain – Scott Bernhardt to run for OA Chapter Chief – meeting to be on 9/14 at 4:30 PM at Naish – Scouts in OA can vote – please support him by being there and voting

 

Stu Sharp – he is the Charter Organization representative to the Leawood Rotary Club – 9/28 is their annual fund raising auction with proceeds to go to family and children not-for-profit organizations – he is requesting that people donate items that could be sold in the auction

 

Stu Sharp – High Adventure next summer for scuba diving – discussed a variety of options for the troop to participate

 

Stu Sharp – another High Adventure offering of non-technical mountain climbing and hiking will be announced soon

 

Stu Sharp – Venture Troop – 9/17 is the next meeting at which time they will determine this year’s outings and officers

 

Marc Elkins – 9/16- Fast Start program for training leaders

 

Marc Elkins – encouraging parents at meetings to be helpful with crowd control

 

Gary Bernhardt – he will be leading a group to Honduras from March 13 to 17 as a medical mission as he and others have done previously – medical skills are not needed – for scouts age 13 and older – approximately $1500 which is tax deductible – contact him to be involved

 

 

 

The meeting was ended at 7:15 p.m.
