"Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader"


The Executive Board of the Heart of America Council is implementing a three(3) year initiative that will require that all Registered Adults are fully 'Trained' for their position (Assistant Scoutmaster or Committee Member).
This includes Adults that have registered with BSA so they can attend Bartle Summer Camp.

    The following courses are required for an Adult to be considered "Trained":
    1. Youth Protection Training
      • Should be completed by ALL Scout Parents
      • REQUIRED for all adults attending Bartle (except visitor's Day)
      • Completed online (see information & link below)
      • MUST BE COMPLETED EVERY 2 YEARS
    This additional course is required for an Adult to be considered 'Trained' as a COMMITTEE MEMBER..
    1. Troop Committee Challange
      • Completed online (see information & link below)
    These two(2) additional courses are required for an Adult to be considered 'Trained' as an ASSISTANT SCOUTMASTER.
    1. Assistant Scoutmaster Job Specific Training
    2. Boy Scout Outdoor Leader Skills Training (campout)

    To summarize... To be 'Trained' as a Committee Member., you need to complete: (both available on-line)

    1. Youth Protection Training
    2. Troop Committee Challange

    OR to be 'Trained' as an Assistant Scoutmaster, you need to complete:

    1. Youth Protection Training
    2. Assistant Scoutmaster Job Specific Training (not available on-line)
    3. Boy Scout Outdoor Leader Skills Training (campout)

    All but two of these courses are offered On-Line. The last two(2) are offered by the Local Boy Scout Districts.   Troop 10 is in the Trailhead District.  Adults may take these training courses in any of the 13 Heart of America Council Districts.

    PLEASE NOTE: If you complete a training course in any District other than the Trailhead District (OR ON-LINE), you MUST send verification to our District Training Registrar, at THDTrainingReg@hotmail.com

    BSA On-line Courses can be found at the following website:    http://www.myscouting.org/    You will be asked to create a MYScouting E-Learning Account.  You need to enter 'Heart of America' for our Council (#307).   You will be asked for your 'Member ID'.   This is not required but is listed on your BSA Membership Card.   If you are a Registered Adult and don't know your ID number, you can ask our Advancement Chair; advancement@bsatroop10.org    or call the Heart of America Council and ask them.   If you are not yet registered, you can leave this field blank.

  • MyScouting.org
    • Create an account - this can be done with or without your BSA membership ID.
    • If you enter your membership ID, your training records will be updated at the Council Office.
    • If you are not yet registered, you can still take training, just print the certfiicate at the end of each course.
    • After your account is created you will receive an email with a link. Click the link to activate your myscouting account. This must be done before you can log in. If you do not receive an email, check your spam/junk folder.
    • Once you log in to myscouting, click E-Learning on the left hand side. Trainings are listed under tabs (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, and General).
    • Submit your certificate of completion to your District Training Registrar, at THDTrainingReg@hotmail.com
    • Click on training validation* to review what courses you have taken, this includes courses recorded at the Council Office.
    • *After logging onto MyScouting.org , click on “Training Validation” and you can check to see if your trainings have been recorded in the Council’s computer system.

    Required Adult Training

    • Youth Protection Training (Required for ALL Registered Adults - expires every 2 years)
    • Troop Committee Challange (required for Committee Members)
    • Assistant Scoutmaster Job Specific Training and Boy Scout Outdoor Leader Skills Training (campout) (required for Assistant Scoutmasters)
      • These courses require attendance at events offered by the local Districts
