Troop 10 - Philmont

Philmont is an “Opportunity of a Lifetime!” The scouts and adults attending Philmont in 2006 had awesome
experiences and we will learn more about their expedition at future meetings and campouts.
This is a boy run excursion and a tremendous leadership training experience for Troop 10 Scouts.
ELIGIBLE SCOUTS
Philmont participants must be at least 14 by January 1, 2007, or have completed 8th grade and be at least 13
years of age prior to participation in June 2007. There are no exceptions to this policy as established by Philmont.
Maximum number of adults accompanying each crew of twelve is 4.
SIGNUP PROCEDURES
Scouts and adults interested in Philmont 2007 can come to Blue Hills Country Club (777 W Burning Tree Dr
Kansas City, Missouri) on Sunday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m. for information and signup. Initial payments will be
taken to secure your position. Location of the meeting will be in the lower level of the club house.
Sign up sheets payment arrangements will also be available at the Troop 10 Court of Honor meeting next Monday,
September 11th. Troop 10 has six crews and 72 slots for the June 10-22 session. One crew has already been committed to another
Boy Scout Troop in our District. Last signup date is September 18th, 2006. Unused slots will be turned back on
September 26, 2006! This is a very short period as we have a payment due to Philmont on October 1, 2006.
ESTIMATED PHILMONT COSTS
Costs for Philmont will be $540.00 plus transportation which is estimated to be $280.00 for adults and slightly less for Scouts
15 and under. Transportation is by train with actual costs determined with our group rate once we have completed our commitments.
Total costs will be approximately $850.00. The deadline for initial payment of $350.00 is Monday, September 18th.
Further information for Scouts and parents will be presented at the September 18th troop meeting.

We need at least four adults to divide the many tasks involved with planning Philmont 2007 along with crew leaders to organize the
shakedown campouts taking place this fall and early next spring.
